1983 National Pro Long

Original Team NP F&F purchased directly from an ex-Team NP rider.

Forks: Undrilled National Pro.
Bars: Rechromed and super-rare original unknurled 1st Gen (thin cross-bar) National Pro race bars. Repro Pro Neck decal placed in the same position as marked by the imprint of the original (Massive thanks to Norty40).
Wheels:  NOS rib-sided Ambrosio 1 3/8 ‘skinnies. Radially laced front.
Hubs: Original blue and silver Crupi Gen I(?) sealed bearing flip-flop hubs (taken off an ’81 Diamond Back Pro Mini).
Tyres: NOS Blue/skinwall 1 3/8” Tioga Comp III blue/green label.
Valve Caps:  NOS white Jive Handles (slightly later 80’s(?) but how cool?!)
Chainring: Polished Pro Neck 44T chainring and powerdisk.

Cranks: Profile Generation III  ‘’A’’ in 177mm length; original chrome finish. Original decals.
BB: NOS Profile with Hop-Up kit.
Pedals: Hand-polished super-rare NOS Vector Ultimate PV-1 in plain unpainted factory raw finish (outers polished), with the original pair of unused end caps. (Choice of 1/2inch and 9/16inch spindle sizes present).
Stem: OG survivor condition Blue Bulldog stamped Pro Neck.
Headset: Tange Seiki 300 with a NOS blue Tange locking nut and blue Haro flex-fighter.
Seat post: NOS National Pro layback seat post. Original Pro Neck decal.
Seat post clamp: Polished TUF NECK.
Seat:  Original NOS March ’84 stamped blue Kashimax Aero.
Brakes: Hand-polished MX901 rear.
Brakepads: Curved Scott Mathauser finned.
Lever: Polished left silver MX-121 Tech 3.
Brake Cable: NOS white mid-80’s dated Dia-Compe.
Padset: OG and very rare NP pad set in blue sold to me by ex-NP Team rider Bill Stonebraker – his original race set(!)
Grips: Rare (only pair I’ve ever seen) survivor Akron BMX grips in blue/white. (Akron advertised their aftermarket items such as grips and seats in BMX Action from ’83 – ’84, so period correct).
More pics to follow once i have added the last few items to the bike... I have also included a shot of the only period shot of a Candy Blue NP that i have been able to find from BITD. Inspiration for my build!

Re: 1983 National Pro Long

I should just add at this point, i don't really like coloured tyres on builds, but they seem to work well on this. Once I had started down the blue road there was no turning back! I was very chuffed to source the OG padset also - they were a must for this bike and really finish it off.

The chain and tensioners are now on, so as soon as I have some decent shots I will update with more pictures.

Re: 1983 National Pro Long

Awesome. Looks great.

It's all for sale. Chrome frames suck. Real men rock reflectors.

Text me pictures for repair work. It's the easy way to get ahold of me. 8124997173

Re: 1983 National Pro Long

Thanks man - I'd really like a chrome one to make a nice pair.

I was after a chrome one originally when this blue one surfaced. Nice that it's a LONG too as the Standards are a bit too short.

Re: 1983 National Pro Long

Your bike looks great. I haven't been around much for awhile but looked just to see if anyone added a blue National Pro . I bought a new F&F in 83/84 and it was blue w/chrome fork. Unfortunately the only thing I have left of it is the original warranty card. Lol. Awesome build.

WANTED - Whitebear 20" + 24" forks
               Early GHP 20" fork
Anything else Whitebear ( Pads Etc.)

Re: 1983 National Pro Long

Thanks - pleased you like it. Yours must have looked great with the blue frame and chrome forks. What happened to it? Do you have any old pictures as I have only ever seen the one shot I have posted of a blue one from BITD? I'd be really keen to see the warranty card too!!!
