Re: bone to pick

Odd. I have had maybe 2 pop ads on my computer that's it. Phone has been totally fine. My phone is old though so maybe it's not compatible...

Re: bone to pick

It's about every page now on my iPhone. This is beyond irritating. Can't you turn Google Ads off until Google gets their act together?

I'm always glad to see BMXJunkie's avatar.

It's a little vacation from whatever problem I'm having. It's always a 2 second zen moment, where I can't focus on anything but absorbing the light from the screen.

Yeah solutions are to download programs and active X controls you wouldn't normally have to download to view other sites. Unfortunately that puts this site into the category of sites you shouldn't visit. If you have to download programs to block intrusive content it's generally considered a site with high threat of pushing a content tracker, or even worse a Trojan. I'm not saying that any of the reputable people at NBC would purposely push a Trojan but I am saying that if someone with malicious intent found out their scripting had that power, they would certainly try to take advantage of it. I know if I was a hacker I definitely would.

I have a degree in computer networking, and enough 3 letter IT certs to fill half a wall (including CEH). I can tell you that these crash ads are just plain bad news. We transfer money and personal information on this site. Hackers don't consider any site a target until they figure out they can gain something by infiltrating it, there are obvious things to gain here so my advice is scale it back, no amount of money is worth someone getting jacked.

Re: bone to pick

I am still getting it when I first open this site but I close the window and I can read and post until I log off.  As soon as I log back in the same thing happens though.  I am one of the lucky ones I guess. It would drive me nuts if the window kept popping up during one visit.

Re: bone to pick

Well I guess we can tell who has their internet security locked tight as a dolphin's butt, and who takes a more cavilier approach.

It's hard to get spammed by ads with malware...if you aren't even displaying ads in the first place.
