One of the 2 US made General Lee's I picked up this week.....

It's too late to put together a sale post like I had planned tonight, so I thought I would post this US made DK General Lee I picked up earlier this week.  The other General Lee was a Rebel Racing, and as much as I like the DK, the Rebel blows it out of the water.

By far one of the raddest bikes of the Midschool Era . I want a 1997-1999 one day , to go along with all these DK parts I have sitting in a drawer . cool

Re: One of the 2 US made General Lee's I picked up this week.....

Nice complete DK GL. I own the same one in orange with mostly the same parts. It looks like it could be a DANS COMP order from back in the day. It came with all those parts except the tires were Maxxis dirt and a DK seat. I stopped riding street and vert in 92 and got back into Big Dirt around 96 and used a 1985 Gt and learned it couldn't handle the stress after some major parts failures. I was also noticing how BMX changed with the threadless fork and parts were becoming much better so I saw Chris Doyle jumping a DK General Lee around 97 and wanted one after seeing the set up. Back in 97 to 98 the General Lee was basically just a frame you could only buy and only a few bike online order stores had a complete build package with all DK parts and I think Dk also had a working deal with Maxxis tires. When I got my DK GL I had to build the entire frame up myself with parts. I also managed to get a frame that was a demo model where they welded the support into the frame tubes meeting. Mine is really a 99 but it was a pre demo frame cause the 97 and 98's had some problems cracking in the top tube areas from stress on big dirt. Only the pro riders of dirt cracked the frames but because Chris Doyle made the bike super famous in 97 and 98 everyone wanted one. There is a awesome Yellow General Lee that Doyle had in photos in RIDE I believe that shows him doing sick Can Cans and I always wanted to build that bike and DK wouldn't hook up my sponsor with the yellow but gave the demo orange frame. All the rest of the parts I had to supply. But nice Black DK great shape to. I'm looking for a white frame with all the DK parts which was a complete bike you can buy from DANS COMP around 99 to 2000. I saw only one on ebay a few years ago for 400 mint and didn't move fast enough. I also had the rare factory stickers sets which I sold all. I even had the dirt jumper factory set which I regret selling.

I totally agree, This frame was like a perfect old school race frame but built with better welds and simple standard for the time period in the late 90's, the early to mid 90's had crap bikes. I think this frame set up is one of the best DK's made. They always had great parts but the last 10 years I've seen some crappy DK's that are over weight, clunky, and just not fun to ride.

I set one a side at the junk yard about 3 weeks noticed it was still sitting there, it's orange everything but the wheels.
