Rare BMX bikes.....TOP TEN

What would you consider the top ten in terms of hard to find vintage BMX bikes?

I'm sure you'd have to add a JMC Darrell Young.

Re: Rare BMX bikes.....TOP TEN

without a doubt!! a 1st generation RRS 24 cruiser. This is the first ever produced 24" BMX cruiser that became the footprint for all the other's to follow. If you've got one of these floating around..let's see it.

1975 26" Redline Squareback. Only one (1) of these were ever made.
1975 20" Moto Pro "Donahue" made. Looks just like a 1975 Redline Squareback.
1974/75 20" Redline looptail.
1974 Redline mono-shock

Guy's..you can find, Race Inc's and Patterson's all day long. Think of something that's "RARE" hard to come by and would be very expensive to purchase if you did find that Gem.

while I do appreciat the rare-ity of the above mentioned bikes, I have ZERO desire to own one, I would love to score one for cheap to make money on it but thats it,  I dont know why I am like that either, sometimes just because something is rare if I didnt ride one or know someone who had one I just dont really care to much about them, and my problem goes even farther if too many people had them(redlines and mongoose) I have little desire to have them other than to resell, there is always exceptions to my rule of course, when I went to garys place I never wanted a ghp then I saw his red one all decked out, and now I have lust in my heart for one!  oh well if I was going to add anything to this list they wouldnt be all that rare unless they were nos, cw phase one, hutch tim judge, vector...........

Nishiki.

So rare there isn't even a category for them in this museum! I know they existed though 'cos a guy who lived not far from me had one in about 1983 or '84. I'm sure I've got some old ads for them from UK BMX magazines somewhere (could be wrong about that). I'll have a dig when I get a mo.

The Holeshot RF1, a UK frame. Numbers of survivors of those are most likely in single digits.

Re: Rare BMX bikes.....TOP TEN

Hmmm, top ten hard tro find eh?
already mentioned the RRS 24"...
Howabout a skyway 24" with 24" graphites?
even a Patterson 24 is hard to find.
a brass CW 24 or 26.
and VDC or threuster 24" tooo.
Anything JMC seems to be tuff.
An older version of the Hyper, with twin top tubes.
I am having trouble finding a flying Rhino/tioga
Also an original S&M k9 design would be cool.
is that 10 yet?
Rumblefish is another rare one..
I want them ALLL!!! ahahahahahahaha

Re: Rare BMX bikes.....TOP TEN

cant believe no one has said a pro star yet? I mean alot of people say they have them, but only really just have the pro racer with the wrong decals. To find an official pro star with it's original finish, decals and parts? That would be cool.

Re: Rare BMX bikes.....TOP TEN

Just thought of another - SRP (Staley Racing Products). Again so rare there isn't even a category for them here.

Basically the dad of a US rider named (I think) Jay Staley started making all titanium mini and midi sized frames that were almost unbelievably lightweight but still (just about) strong enough for BMX racing. Can't remember what the dollar cost was but at a time when a Hutch or GHP or whatever might set you back £170 sterling for frame and forks these were retailing for around £700 because of the material used.

I used to work for the guy who imported a couple to the UK, but I have to say I don't remember us ever selling one. The only one I saw on a track was my boss's son's bike. I don't really think it ever got much further than the prototype stage so I'm guessing only a handful were ever built. Looking back though they did have full race clothing made up so obviously had great plans for the enterprise.

Be great to see a pic if anyone out there has one.

Re: Rare BMX bikes.....TOP TEN

Slingshot is the first that came to mind.  The prototype 24" quadangle.  Jad bikes.

ah, almost forgot, how about the pre-GT, "Gary Turner" bmx frame

Well, maybe not super rare, but what about the SE racing Trickmaster?

Lots of PKs and Quads, but I don't hear much about the TrickMaster. (expect from my posts)

What about a 1985 TRS. I used to race against a factory rider from TRS and I have never seen a bike since. Does anyone know about this bike?
