1982 Rocket X1

Rare Rocket X-1 from The Netherlands. Green and Gold accents to match the frame colors

Here's my Rocket X-1 race bike from The Netherlands. Some history: The frames of these bikes were produced by the firm BEJAH ( abbreviation of Ben Jansema Hardenberg )
When we are in 1982, working with Sammy Miller entered into with the rocket motorcycle and Rocket Car Sammy came up with the idea
of the BMX under the name Rocket X1.
The model is based on the shape of an egg.
If you like an uncooked egg between your thumb and index finger in length, you can not squeeze much .
So it's a strong construction .
It was decided to bring only a frame and fork on the market without parts , because each
BMX rider than his own could assemble parts from cheap to expensive .
Because the BEJAH Jamathi had produced frames Jansema Ben came back into the picture to include the Rocket X1frames to
to make. There was also a profesional Rocket BMX team up . For this, the Chevy bus was purchased .
Two of the , factory riders , from that time were the now famous racing drivers Tim & Tom Coronel .
A series of 250 pieces ordered.
The remaining 150 were sold in the Netherlands . Many frames are built in that time with MONGOOSE parts because
one of our representatives ( Henk Wendelgelst ) also had contacts at Mongoose and he could hit the road . 2 birds with 1 stone
However, over time, the first frames were returned ( the racers ) with torn crank case .
These became more and more . After examination by the firm BEJAH with x-ray equipment revealed that the crank cabinets with low temparature were welded .
It was then welded between the box and the frame to guarantee a picture.
There was too much negative publicity occur and we stopped production .
Henk was ultimately not quite fit with his Kawasaki imports.
So it remained in total . 250 frames

Parts Breakdown:--Rocket X-1 frame and fork--Suntour stem--Stem Stiffener (thanks folzinal)--CW Mustache bars--AME grips--Dia Compe levers--Dia comp brakes--Pro Class rims--Cheng Shin fat/skinny tires--Maxy Cross cranks--Suntour XCII Pedals (thanks troynlori for the cages)--Kashimax aero seat--Tuf neck seat clamp--Strong seat post--Tange headset--Vans Brakeshoes--homemade rim strips

Thanks

Re: 1982 Rocket X1

Race bike. I put a front brake on it and decided on the skyway bars because it goes perfectly with the lines of the frame.

Re: 1982 Rocket X1

Its quite different for sure. I would say most faults were likely taking off right out of the gate.

Newbie...
No front brakes, except for freestyle.
Adjust your seat and bars, so it looks like you actually ride.
Use cruiser bars on cruisers.
No laybacks on cruisers either, jeez.
