Re: 22's Go Here

How many of you guys in here have ridden (and abused) the 22" velocity taipan rims and what are your thoughts in comparison to factions and/or revenges?

Snagged a trans green ATF, love the attention to detail on this thing!  Hopefully it won't feel too much shorter than my customs with a 63mm stem.  Ready to part ways with the Amero if anyone's interested.

I have the velocity that I got from Charlie and have had zero issues with them, I don't abuse but when I'm with my son at the park he and his friends try their best to and they are still straight and true :D
I only had the revenges on mine for a short time..

Re: 22's Go Here

Here is a little project I had on the back burner.Got it finished up today.

The 1st 22in Sunday WAVE C.
I am a 20in guy at heart.I have a 24in Wave C and love it,but it just feels a little odd for me.So that got me thinking,:o:o
If I like a 20 and the 24 a 22in would be the $hit,Boy was I right. This is just what I was looking for.I rode it for a couple minutes tonight before ball practice and fell in love. :P:P
Only thing I dislike is the tires.S&M will have a Street-Park tire out in a month or so.Then it will be perfect***

Re: 22's Go Here

Edit. Just noticed the wave tube. So was the rear end stretched or a custom from Sunday?

I think it's a normal 24" frames. Look at the back wheel. It's slammed n he's still got crazy clearance. :)

Re: 22's Go Here

Yes, just a standard Sunday Wave C frame, which is designed for 24" wheels.  Has an S&M 22" Pitchfork up front though.

And the brake pads reach!?

What is the bb height now? 12.75"-ish ?!  (With the fork being approx 1" lower, axle to crown).  Do you notice the steering being quicker?

I did it with an Avenger http://bmxmuseum.com/forums/viewtopic.p … 1#p4737961, but never fully built it up.   Then with the InDust Cuatro, but the brakes did not line up:  http://bmxmuseum.com/forums/viewtopic.p … 0#p3369360 (although on that one, I just put the 22" wheel in a 24" fork...which keeps the head angle and  bb-height-relative-to-axles the same).

Well done, man!!!!

Re: 22's Go Here

I cut the brake arms and added 1/4 in to the arms. Just take 4 and make 2 arms. Yes it made the head tube steeper but that is what I was looking for. I cut the drop outs about 1/2 in. Now it rides even move like a park - street bike. Love it.

@77rider, I took the liberty of posting some pics of your Wave-C conversion on my 22-InchBMX facebook page yesterday and this morning Jim C stopped by and made some comments, and then the Sunday Bike facebook page shared the photos.

Ill have pedals later today,  can't wait to take some laps on this thing.  The 63mm push with the 22.125"tt feels comparable to my 23"tt bikes sitting on it, but I won't know for sure until I get some runs on er.  Curious to see if I can even tell the difference of the slacker head tube.

Thing is these make the headtube more slack and that's not what Lenny is after.  He's a steep headtube guy, loves his Broadcasters 75.5 headtube.

Re: 22's Go Here

Lenny, what's the headtube angle and bb height on the wave c with the 22" forks?

The faction f22 tires are much better than the innovas.  I hear the mainlines are coming soon though.
