Got the wheels back, they look great. Got all the last items on order. Now it's just a matter of putting the work in. I can't wait to see it finished and ride it. big_smile

Got one of the pedals cleaned up and spindles swapped over (9/16 vs. 1/2 spindles):

Re: Restoring my childhood bike - 1991 GT Pro Freestyle Tour

lots of parts showed up today, but I'm waiting on some key parts to show up before I can really start assembling. Last thing to source is F/F stickers and DeamonGT has been really killing it there.

On the list of things to do was/is repainting the brakes. Tonight I finished the front BOA. Rear is next.

Re: Restoring my childhood bike - 1991 GT Pro Freestyle Tour

Teaser shot. I'm just waiting on the gyro sticker (should be here this week) and still trying to find a printer for the f/f stickers.

I rode it for the first time tonight in around 20 years. It seems familiar. The front brake works good (flexes like crazy), and the back brake is as useless as I remember. If I continue to ride it, I'll be switching the pitbull out in a hurry.

The pitbull is actually a great brake once it's dialed in.

Any tips? I can't ever recall that thing working that well and I can't seem to get any power out of it now.

Managed to get the brake to work a little better now. Lubed all cables and greased the cams up. I will get some real pictures up soon.

Re: Restoring my childhood bike - 1991 GT Pro Freestyle Tour

Sorry I didn't reply soon. Yeah pitbuls are a pain in the ass when using a gyro. It takes a lot of adjusting and lubing to make them work good. When used with a race bike they work great. Seems like the gyro cables keep it from working to their best, but seems like you figured it out. I have em on my 91 aggressor and they work great.

Re: Restoring my childhood bike - 1991 GT Pro Freestyle Tour

Ok, real pictures time!  I was not going for complete carpet queen here, just wanted to clean it up a bunch. I hope to get stickers sorted soon.

Question, can I change pictures out after submitting to the museum?

Killer build! You can edit pics after it's been submitted, just not sure if you have to have a pro membership to have the option. Dave.

Re: Restoring my childhood bike - 1991 GT Pro Freestyle Tour

great job bro the bike looks awesome! heres a tip on the front pegs that ive done, if anyone is using the safety washer in the forks with pegs, you can put a few 21mm botton bracket washers there to give you better surface area that way you don't bend the pegs.
