A sad day in BMX / Lynbrook Bikes overtaken by fire...

A fire destroyed Lynbrook Bikes early morning today. Thankfully my man Kaleel and no one else were injured. This was my local spot, as well as alot of other fellow Long Island riders. Kaleel is by far the nicest bike shop owner / operator I've ever met. He ran that place by himself and made enough to pay the rent, thats it. I had plans / dreams of helping him out somehow, it sux how things just happen  sad

Sucks when you hear of a "mom and Pop" shop going under. Not many of those anymore.

Yep bummer. People had some nice comments in the article. Sounds like a helluva guy. Hopefully the insurance company doesnt try to rip him off like they do to a lot of good people.

He'll do just fine. he's in his 80's, and for doing it so long, he's a legend in my book.

Not sure what the "do it right" comment means, but everyones a critic in their own little world.

I think when you commented about he "made just enough" we just assumed that he would rebuild and be able to do more than make just enough.

Now that we know he is in his 80's we probably hope he has insurance to be comfortable the rest of his days.

That sucks. He must have really loved doing that for a living and then have it taken away like that.

Re: A sad day in BMX / Lynbrook Bikes overtaken by fire...

Yeah man that suxx big time. Glad no one was hurt including the firefighters. That is one positive.

But that pic of the bikes on the street almost brought a tear to my eye......brutal.

Hopefully he can move on and try it again. No matter how old he is!! Tell him all of us here are hoping and praying for him and wish him all the best!!
