1986 Concord Freestyle
1986 Concord Freestyle
American MADE 100% chromoly freestyle classic
This bike was ,originally, going to be used as temporary parts to use on one of my CW builds... but doing some research about Concord BMXs, and this model... made me want to keep it, as a rider.
The Concord Freestyle was made around 85-86, and it was 100% made and built in the US(in Ohio)... while most BMX companies were starting to send their frames overseas to be produced... Concord kept it in the USA. They made the frame/fork out of 100% 4130 chromoly and equipped it w/ high quality parts.
The Freestyle retailed for around $350 brand new, and was competing with bikes such as the GT Pro Performer, CW California Freestyle, Kuwahara Bravo, Dyno Compe 2, Redline RL20A/B, Haro Sport, Skyway Street Beat, etc... I remember, these bikes were NOT sold in dept. stores and seeing a neon blue one being sold in a racing bmx shop, back in the 80's.

Nice mini-bio on Concord! You can definitely see the CW influence in the f/f, with the double peg forks and the chevron style decals. Nice bike!

Thanks, and yes, you definitely can see the CW influences... especially the chevron striping decals and 4130 placement on the seat post downtube.
Very nice and fast, fun rider.
Sadly, it went to a new home... to make way for my 85 GT Pro Performer rider. It was a great bike.

Nice Concord. I have one of those hanging on my wall in the shop. Its the frame forks with the fork pegs still in it. Its a Orange one and is in really good shape with all the stickers still on it. the bike was originally from my home town and still has the bike shop sticker on the seat post tube. Witch closed down long ago. I tossed around the idea of building it but would sell it if anyone was intrested? Oh I have the crank and powerdisc and chainring also. Cooool bike!

Awesome. They're great bikes. I got alotta compliments on that bike... especially, from young kids and teens who love the color. I traded the frame, fork, handlebars and stem to my friend for parts for a GT. Another guy bought it from outta town.
Some 9 year kid, told me that he remembers me riding that bike around all summer and says he misses seeing it around... when I think about that lil purple bugger... I miss it, too.

The Freestyler sold for around $325 in racing BMX shops to compete with the likes of the GT Pro Performer, Dyno Pro Compe, Skyway Street Beat, CW Cali Freestyler, Kuwahara Bravo, etc...

i own a cycle pro mag freestyler and just bought a concord freestyler.
they look Identical,the only difference i can establish is the front forks are different.
the cycle pro uses screw in pegs with a knockoff standing gear fork.
the condor uses a standard two position peg fork.
id like to say a big Thank you for posting the pics And esp the Info about them.

Just found one of these, just like this only with faded original decals. Working on a price with the owner hoping to pick it up. Would definitely be in the tops of my collection!

I sold mine, and wish I never did, I miss it... and now, it has a new owner in VT, who is going to restore it.

NICE... congrats, and please post some pics. Never get tired of seeing a few Concord freestylers around.
Also, Concord made a sister to this bike, same frame and fork and bars, for Cycle Pro.
To us, it'll ALWAYS be a Concord... no matter how you sticker it. lol

+1 on the Cycle Pro mag freestyler and the Concord freestyle, also the same frame as the Tracker freestyler. Again, just a fotk and bars change.... Great frames!
