Re: haro zippo

I just acquired a 1999 Zippo at the show on sat and im excited to do a retro build
the front forks have a really good sized ding in it but I want forks that have the 990 mounts. I have a set on a 98 shredder I could use
I want to do a retro build but not the typical 85-86 masters. I was thinking of an 87? but...I like the green 86 a lot too

How do you like those Cult Chase Dehart tires? I've been thinking about getting a set. Sweet bike, by the way.

Re: haro zippo

It's a two step process that creates rust. And then clear coat over the rust. I like the tires, a bit softer than black tires though, a bit gummier...
This was before the clear coat, looked like it would turn to dust if you touched it... lol

Re: haro zippo

ok we changed our idea up a bit
the decals for the 85-86 haro's need to have at least 4 colors in the graphics to look good. huskies only had 3 that we could use sooooo, we decided to do a Seahawks edition retro build instead. it has 4 colors and im excited to start this build with my 13 yr. old Seahawks fan

this is what I envision the decals to be
I email alan at AJK and hes putting it in the custom orders div. be about 2 weeks

Re: haro zippo

Looking good beej1968.  I bet your gald to have the 990 mounts huh? Try using a 990 adapter palte on those forks,  You'll think me later by using a 990 on the front to.   I just sold a 99 myself and getting ready to sell off my ground master zippo tribute frame n fork with parts soon.  Letting it go with the pitbull and evo II brake set to.  Ill post it up in the forsale section soon.  So what cranks are you going to run?  Something light I hope? smile

I do have a couple of 990 plates, the bike has been sitting like this for almost 2 years. I have the original cranks and eye sprocket I'm going to put on. This was a fairly low budget build and used many parts I already had lying around. I do need to finish it but have been focusing on my Barcodes.

I think between the rust and the tire choice makes the bike.  I recall seeing his post months ago.  Your right, very creative and well executed.......smile

Re: haro zippo

Nearly finished - rebuild with replacement bearings all round, axles, chain, grips, pedals, cables, freewheel and clean. All as og except grips & pedals, getting a big bottle of vinegar to derustificate pegs tomorrow and will post in museum this weekend when complete.

Made me realise there's a lot of work, searching, money & patience goes into the bikes on here. I've been pretty frugal on this but spent quite a bit of time on it - more than it must've taken to build new.
