Re: 1987 GT PFTT build by rfcarnahan

here's the forks I got. they had some "custom" cable guides welded on. the steer tube was also bent about an 1/8 of an inch. I felt obligated to fix these as there so hard to find with the drop outs being so nice.

the seat for me was the hardest to find
I actually fell on the cranks by accident
the gyro friendly epoch was another pain to get

Tell me about it, my seat took over a year to find....I always say for such a common bike , its parts are pretty hard to find in Mint/NOS shape

Sweet cool  This will be cool!  With all the white parts, I'm guessing DG pink?

Re: 1987 GT PFTT build by rfcarnahan

Please do something other than DG pink.  Don't get me wrong, DG pink is gorgeous.  And if you do, I'm sure this build will be second to none, but EVERYONE does DG pink.  I'd love to see something completely different. DG yellow, or maybe gray.

Re: 1987 GT PFTT build by rfcarnahan

Yeah, I'm doing DG pink. I really wanted one in that color and this will wind up going to my daughter cuz she's a pink princess. Her twin brother will get a DG orange or blue PFTT
But I gotta finish this one first

Re: 1987 GT PFTT build by rfcarnahan

ok so I been looking at the 1987 GT catalog and im noticing that the pedals that are on the pftt and pft and pp are not sr474's but look like whit VP500's
I looked in the 88 catalog and they have the sr474' on those so I am gonna run the vp500's on my build to try and stay era correct
if anybody has any info on this please chime in. I also noticed in the catalog that the frames had a guide for the gyro cable just up from where it goes into the frame. miy frame does not have this and neither does all of the bikes I've seen in the museum so im not 100% positive the vp's where the og pedals based on that observation

Since we're on the subject- is there a list of paint codes for the DG series of colors?
