1999 Schwinn Pro Stock SE

My favorite bike.

This started as a Craigslist's score.  The frame, seatpost, handle bars, and seat post came from that purchase.  The wheels/hubs, forks, grips came from another Craiglist's pick-up.  The stem, cranks, and power disk came from members here.  The pedals are Hutch.  This bike rides so smooth and is light.  It really is my favorite bike- for so many reasons.

Here is the parts list:

Pro Stock SE frame
Answer Carbon Pro forks
Robinson Racing Handlebars
Ouri Grips
Profile Push Stem
Aheadset SX-1 headseat
Odyssey Pro Factor 1.75 rims
JP Precision sealed hubs
White Industries 15t freewheel
Maxxis Max Daddy 20 X 1.85 front tire
IRC Siren 20 X 1.50 rear
Profile 180mm Cranks
Profile Bottom Bracket
Profile Cone spacers
Profile Ripsaw 43t
Hutch JDB Pedals and cages
Tioga Spyder seat
Rhythm Quick Release seatclamp
ProMax seatpost
Tecktro brakes

Thanks for looking and as always, ALL comments are welcomed.

Re: 1999 Schwinn Pro Stock SE

I think you have a real, real good eye for how to put a bike together. I’m loving this. You sure on the white seat? I’m no designer, but the black one does pretty well on it.

Appreciate the Schwinn, Murray, Huffy, etc builds; they are definitely closer to home to me than Hutch or Haro.

Can’t say enough about this bike. Also, it has convinced me that I need to do a white build. I have a thing for white bikes but ever since my Performer was stolen back in the day, I can’t bring myself to do one.

Nicely done, here.

Looking for GT Performer forks - maybe.  Lemme know what you have!

V-bars, knobby tires, and chain guards - Oh, yeah!  big_smile

Thanks for the kind words, Skwerly, but I think you gave me too much credit. lol  I did get lucky with this bike...everything just feel into place with it.

About the Hutch or Haro, I'm done building those.  This bike is much more of a joy to ride than my either one of my Hutches.

This thing is sweet!!! I'm old school, but would love to have a setup like this!! tongue  The right white seat would be great, but it looks just fine with the black one!

Beautiful bike...did it come that clean from CL or did you have to do a lot of work on it?

Thanks for the compliment.  It was dirty when I got the bike.  I took the the bike completely apart, cleaned the frame, did an OA bath on the bars, and then started buying the parts I wanted.

Awesome bike, man! These late 90's Scwhinns are beautiful bikes! I've got a couple of bottom-end Super Stocks and that was enough to get me hooked.

Looks great!

Re: 1999 Schwinn Pro Stock SE

I gotta say CMB , that your bike is one sexy looking piece of machinery! When I originally picked up my pro stock like 15 years ago , it just sat there for many years. Then a few years ago while doing some research on how to actually build this bike , I saw yours and said " I gotta build something like that! " Truly was an inspiration seeing yours. You did an awesome job on that thing! It may take me a month or two to finish mine , but I've already started getting parts for it. And looking to ride the hell out of it this summer!
