Hi all I am the original owner of my 86 RL20 II that is in near mint original condition after all these years.   I'm taking it all apart and regreasing polishing, and replacing any worn components.  Although it will no longer be used much I want it 100% fully capable and functional.

Few things that I am wondering about:

Fit Bike Company has come out with some new school freestyle tires called FAF (fast as f*uck) that look like they were made for a turquoise redline, they have a teal sidewall that matches Redline's color perfectly....I bought a set, could not resist.  Currently on my Peregrine 48's are GT logo tires, that are just worn enough to have removed the nibs, but they are old and do feel a bit dry.   So the question is, is it blasphemous to put the new school, better matching tires?   Also is there a way to make my old GT tires more supple?

Chains, I bought a new all white KMC Z410chain, on my bike is a white and black Izumi…replace or keep old?

Brake mounting, I always felt that the bolts should be flush with the frame, then Diacompe did it, but my Redline has the smaller holes that don’t allow for the flush Allen bolt, I thought about drilling out the hole back in the day, but did not for fear of bare metal and rust, I also thought that eventually something better would come along and  so better not mess with the frame and fork holes.   Drill or no?  MY brakes are 901 in rear and FS880 front.

Lastly, I have my original Turquoise Forklifter stem, I don’t have it on the bike, becsue as anyone who used that stem for freestyling may know the chromoly tube would eventually separate from the aluminum body.   My solution was to acquire a beefy MCS stem.   I did contemplate drilling a hole through the body and into the tube of the Forklifter stem to thread a flush mounted  locking screw  but never followed through…..thoughts?

I always had A’ME Unitrons, but they are unobtainium now, so I bought some teal new school limited edition Aaron Ross keyboard grips by Odyssey, color is extremely close to Redline’s, better color match than my aqua Unitrons.

Bought some midschool knurled Redline axle pegs to replace my well used metal GT ones.  Will be reusing modified GT aluminum ones at front axle.

I used to sport the old school steel chain tensioner, just picked up a set of new school Redline aluminum ones.

Going to be taking bike to body shop to try and get some touch up paint for a few a few small nicks.

Considering rechroming my 401 Flight Cranks, I had bought them off a friend back in the 80s, they were already well used, in that the chrome was very worn from use and showing a hint of the copper underplating, they are not bad, but since I am going to be replacing the crank decals, I might as well make them 100% like new.

Anyone know where I can get just the turquoise fork decals and rear triangle, "Redline All Chromoly" decals?

I am thinking of stripping off the red from the Shimano DX pedals, then polishing them to mirror finish...hmm?

Thoughts opinion?  Thanks
