1975 Mongoose Motomag

Early Mongoose survivor with OG Schwinn parts and Tuff Wheels

1975 Mogoose survivor with Schwinn and Ashtabula parts.  Thats all they had back then.  Dorcy bars, Ashtabula cranks, Schwinn sprocket.  Check out the little metal piece put into the gooseneck to keep the bars from slipping.  Pre Tuf Neck.  This thing is OG down to the tires and tubes.  I picked this up in a trade quite a few years ago and just stuck it in my crawl space.  It is pretty small, rides like a pit bike.

Sweet score!

What's your serial number Scotty?

Have you sent it to Waza for his log?  I'm sure he'll be interested in a '75.

Serial # is 10854.  I haven't sent it to Waza but I will.  Thanks.

Re: 1975 Mongoose Motomag

Always nice to see a '75 Mongoose.

Pretty sure Yellow Tuffs weren't available back in '75 though, so these Tuffs probably aren't OG to the bike.

I think Tuffs were available in black only until sometime around '77.

A "Squonk" is like a Mongoose only much harder to find...

Re: 1975 Mongoose Motomag

How did a blue one slip in there? According to the catalog Motomags were only available in nickel, red, yellow, and orange in 75. Paint looks to be very old but it's not really Mongoose blue either. Must be an early repaint job! With that being said, great bike. I would love to have it!!!

Re: 1975 Mongoose Motomag

I think it was repainted at some point and the yellow tuffs were added.  The serial number is in question as well.  The one I initially reported is one that was stamped in after the fact and I have uncovered the original factory serial number underneath.  I will take a pic.  It is a little hard to read.  I would love some input as to what it is.
