1987 GT pro freestyle tour TEAM MODEL, project
got a frame set from a relative, they have had it since BITD and finally gave it up after years of begging ive been working on it for the past few months. here is what i can show so far its refinished at C4labs. stay tuned i will probably post very detailed pics of the entire thing as i have more parts ready.
the frame set has flawless dropouts, and everything els, had no repairs in any way. i have always installed my own decals and these are placed perfectly, no bubbles or any flaws. i even have an extra complete team model decal set.
keep with this thread you wont be dissapointed.

ok well here is a start to the progress. pedals are hard to come by, espically a set worthy of restoration. the ends cant be to mangled otherwise you cant smoothe the ends out and have the detail there suppose to have. you can only remove so much metal and still have a good set.
i had quite a bit of replacements parts for these but there all gone now. reflectors and end caps are NOS, spindles are true SR stamped 9/16", black pads are the originals witch are usually to beat up to use on a restored set, but these were all good.
the before and after pics are actually 2 different set, but you ge tthe idea.

Re: 1987 GT pro freestyle tour TEAM MODEL, project
here is another part. i went through 5 of these, i just had one powder coted white and it was looking perfect with the replacement decal for the logo. then i find this beauty, 100% OG right down to the bearings, and it looks like new.

Re: 1987 GT pro freestyle tour TEAM MODEL, project
here is a closer look at the stem. real SR stamped GT block. most of these are stamped 85. the 87's rarely come up for sale so i had to settle for an 86 witch are also harder to come by. it has all the original bolts and wedge, and its restored real nice.

Re: 1987 GT pro freestyle tour TEAM MODEL, project
^^ yeah there a biotch, you have to take all the internals out first, even the cups come out for powder coting. then take a small screwdrived from the underside and start trying to finagle it out. once you get the front you can wiggle a lil screwdriver in under the top also. its harder to get to the back of the pad at first from underneeth, but once you get the first one out you can go through the rear hole with a screwdriver to get at the other pad.
i would imagine that some are more brittly than others, miny were still nice and plyable so they didnt crack at all.

Re: 1987 GT pro freestyle tour TEAM MODEL, project
oh i had 3 sets of pedals i had aquired and resotred over the past 3 years, so i kept the best set for myself. one set had repop pads and end caps, i like the OG ones better.
pedals and tires i think are the toughest part to get in the right condition. i kept the best set of tires for this build, minty bright white all nuddies intact and had plastic on logos. these are the white freestyle gumwalls none extra for sale.
