depend on the brand of freewheel you owen. but thares about four diffrent model tools for tacking it off.buy the tool if you owen more than one BMX/FREESTYLE bike . other wise tack it to a bike shop and let them do it. the tool has teth to grab freewheel and spin it off. theres 2 prong ,4 prong depends on freewheel drand.some of the tools like parka have a metal arm for levreg. cheeper one's you need a cresent rench. thay come in handy if you build/ repare a few bikes now and then.

and the freewheel spanner comes in two sizez and is cheap around 20.00 one of my better investments i must say

I figured it out....you knock the middle 2 and the freewheel just pops off... the outside one covers the freewheels bearings.
