1980 Schwinn Sting Competition
Ive always wanted a Sting comp but I thought I would end up buying one from a member here in time...
Karma was with me this weekend for sure!
I found this one complete and in amazing condition. I washed it down with soap and water before taking these pics.

Thanks man, I took it out and hit some trails with it. It needs some attention to fit better but its fun to ride for sure.

Yup, What the hell we all pulled the SX-2000 stickers off our bikes to make them look like Stings anyway.

thankyou, it was a very satisfying build as most of the parts used are refurbished/re-annoed. i still have it in my collection.
good luck finding the schwinn droopy crossbars. i gave up with my sting and ended up putting a nice set of redline microline v-bar on it.

does anyone know the colors that the comp was sold in? have seen chrome only. I had a black one with gold accents back in the day, but have never seen a black one posted anywhere. I know mine wasn't resprayed. Or was it?

i'm not sure with the black sting comp. maybe try and find a schwinn catalogue and see if they existed. i doubt it as i believe sting comp (or sx-2000) were sold as a complete, stings could be had as frame/fork sets.
you may get a better answer on the schwinn forum.
