Re: Show me your CYCLECRAFT!!!!
I had never heard about CYCLE CRAFT until late last year, then within a month, this frame came to me in a multi-bike deal. It was in bad shape, with thick rattle can paint job over incorect stickers. It was a mess. But it was a 24 cruiser, my fortay. I took it on as a ground up restore challenge. Final build is now one of my favorites....
Bmx was pure fun BITD, I think nowadays, some folks have forgotten what its really all about. And what it truly is.........

That's a nice build, but I'm trying to figure out....what does that chain tensioner thingamabob do? I thought that was only for gear shifting and I don't see multiple gears...
Hutch Fun Facts: All main line Hutch's with digits only S/N (no letters or baseballs) on the rear drop outs were US made and had their dropouts stamped between late '83 and '86. Obviously the frame manufacture would occur slightly after that, even if they just threw 'em in a bucket randomly. There is an obvious date code in that the first 2 digits seem to be the month and the 3rd digit is pretty obviously the last digit of the year running from '83-'86.

Re: Show me your CYCLECRAFT!!!!
Ahhhhhh. a multi-speed bmx virgin??? Its called a HOLESHOT...... On closer inspection, you would find a 2 sprocket freewheel on the back wheel. As you aproach the starting line in a race, you pull in the lever on left side of handlebars and it puts chain on bigger of 2 rear sprockets. . Gate drops, as you race down the straitaway and start to windout pedaling, you release the lever, and "thunk" it drops into high gear, or smaller sprocket, giving you more top speed and the advantage over all the other 1 speeds. It was a early 80's toy that didn't catch on much. I ran one for a year or so. I think they eventually outlawed them.....

Re: Show me your CYCLECRAFT!!!!
Holeshot was available through ACS or Shimano..... The derailer and lever was usually Shimano, The 2 sprocket was either ACS or Shimano. I found a whole Shimano package on e-bay recently for around 70 bucks,,,

Re: Show me your CYCLECRAFT!!!!
You know, I mainly put it (gears) on my Cyclecraft to have something to talk about. Part of re-living my bmx past. Once again, it worked! Thanks for noticing....
