1989 Mongoose Californian Pro
My Mongoose 'Survivor' build.
I built this as my daily rider with spare bits and pieces I had laying around in the shed. As time progresses I will be upgrading the parts. I really enjoy riding this bike as it brings back so many good memories for me when I had a 1989 Californian Pro back in 1992. Hope you all enjoy the pics as much as I did building it and riding it.

What kind of hubs are those? They look tough... I like the bike...

They are Schwinn XS hubs.

That mongoose is sick, I mean I never saw this frame style before. I am more of a 87 an lower mongoose guy but yours is sweet. I had an older expert or cali from 84 I think and it had the same color. It was stolen, but one of my most cherished bmx bikes and color I ever had.

I have one of these that I got as a Kid I bought it off a mate for 20 bucks back when I was 15 I still have it It needs restoring though and just wondering how important you guys think it is to keep it as stock as possible.. The rims need replacing they are original and in bad shape they might be salvageable but its a long shot the seat needs replacing and the bars and grips need replacing to... the rest of the bike is fairly mint despite the little bit of wear and tear of use as a teen so peeps whats your opinion?

One of the main reasons I like this build is because of the parts used with such a none common frame. I think it's all about your first thoughts on how a bike should be done. I am the kind of person that given enough time will never make a definitive decision, So It's All Up Toyou. Just have fun with it in the process and try not to go broke
