Nice bike! - Is that a Chris King headset? - What color is it?. The brakes also look brown - Are they?. JC

Avatar is from 1991 - the bike is an 89 GT Speed Series.

Re: 2008 SE Racing Quadangle 24

The headset is a sars brand and looks just like a chris king.I bought it because i like how it is shaped like a king but came in brown, and yes i painted the brake lever and brakes brown and added a brown brake cable to boot

Re: 2008 SE Racing Quadangle 24

Brown is the new black!
I'm thinking of getting one of these.

How do the tuffs ride? They look cool but are there any drawbacks?

Nice Bike :D

Sweet build and great parts choices by far. I just scored my 08 24" Frame & fork and can't wait to post pics also. Props to you on a great build.

Re: 2008 SE Racing Quadangle 24

Really sweet build! I ordered the Graphite Tuffs for mine as well and can't wait to get her together. Where'd you nab the number plate from? It looks like it has the perfect color combo!

Re: 2008 SE Racing Quadangle 24

i bought it from vertego.com it was origianlly green and yellow just bought it because it was the cheapest and i was going to paint over it anyway.I pulled the decals off the top that goes around the handle bars very carefully and but them on some wax paper. Then had a graphic place here in town scan them and change the colors to brown and baby blue. Then just painted the border of the plate with a brown paint pen. Thanks for the compliment im really happy with how it all turned out.I tried to build a bike that looked like it was from the 80s but with parts that are all avaliable from any shop today.

Wow...I'm even more impressed now that you described the work that went into it! BTW, where did you pick up the skinwall tires? It seems impossible to find them.

Re: 2008 SE Racing Quadangle 24

they are getting really hard to find exspecialy in 24 x 1.75  I just found them on ebay about six months ago. They do come up but can be pricey, hopefully now that se put them on the dc quad cruiser they will start to make them avaliable again, and hopefully coloredtuffs will stock them like they did the yellow om tires

Hey Triangleman - I thought I'd let you know I got my bike finished! It's in the museum at this link:

Overall, I'm quite happy with the way it turned out and it rides great!

Re: 2008 SE Racing Quadangle 24

Sickest bike I've ever seen! The numberplate holy sh*%#@#! Everything is perfect! Same here, been out of the loop for 20 yrs I have not even thought about BMX until I SAW THIS BIKE! I had a 84' SE Henderson Hauler (stolen) then an 85' PK Ripper (sold it in 88') got my license & a GTO. Never wanted a QUAD ( though they were always cool ). I can't believe they didn't make 24" QUAD's back then, right?.  The appearance of the geometry on the 24" QUAD is ZEN! Best looking F/F ever! If they're bigger than 24" the tubes are to skinny & the 20" tubes are more chaotic or less flowing with each other. Don't get me wrong all QUAD's are cool but the 79' 80' QUAD looptail is the best looking one of the QUAD bunch & that frame stretching to 24" is PERFECTING THE PAST, GETOUTTAHERE !  I guess I'm gonna be bias, but this F/F, the SE team color scheme can't be beat! (if looks were a race) So I built one for my oldest daughter, SE U SEE on the museum. Thanks for building inspiration! ps: any idea on finding one of those number plates would be appreciated.

Re: 2008 SE Racing Quadangle 24

SWEET!!
Building one myself, hope mine is half as nice as yours.  I was debating between mags or blue rims.
Mags it is!
