1979 Mongoose Motomag

Late 79 CL9  Nickle  frame / fork

Bringing this Goose to life with parts from Museum members . Polished the frame some , but sending F/F and neck to the polishers for a pro job. Still cant deside on cranks , having a bit of a problem with the front mag as it doesn't want to go onto those forks . I have neck, cranks and forks stamped ASHTABULA . might need to go that route but well see . I'll post new pics as we progress.

Re: 1979 Mongoose Motomag

looking good. they look like some sweet m/m's. im doing a 78 now. dropped it off to get powered tonight. doing all ashtabula. if you have problems with the mag fitting the front make sure the fork is not bent closed if thats not the case mess with the axle spacing.

The axle on the Moto mag is not cut out like they are on Tuffs . Most likely im also going with stamped ( ASHTABULA ) neck , cranks and forks . The forks pictured are actually Team / Supergoose  and im going to save those for a DeCoster build . But only time will tell

Thanks for the heads up.

Re: 1979 Mongoose Motomag

sounds like all you need is a slotted axle. or just file some flat spots on the axle just at the fork spot. still plenty strong and you never see it once bolted. on a sweet build like that i would go with the slotted axle.

You can get the full MONGOOSE sticker set for it too. Dont forget the Cheng shin balloon tires. And rat trap pedals.

Bmx was pure fun BITD, I think nowadays, some folks have forgotten what its really all about. And what it truly is.........
