1983 GT Pro

Build in progress with many NOS components

This is a build in progress and these are the components so far.  I'm taking inspiration from the first GT Pro complete from circa Feb. '83.  They chose some great components for the build, likely the ones I would have used back then.  I had and raced an '80 Mongoose Supergoose, but really liked the GT Pros when these started to show up at our local tracks circa '81.  Alas, in the summer of '82, I was 17 and about to start my senior year of high school, and suddenly BMX was in my rearview mirror.  It was not a conscious decision, just a mood change, growing up I guess.  Now that I'm older, like so many BMXers, this is a great full circle nostalgic bike to have.  I'm likely going to use a different black Sugino chainring.  The chainring is mint from my collection and I don't want to get chain marks on it, lol.
'83 GT Pro frame - original chrome, reissue decals, stamped "4"
'83 GT Pro forks - original chrome, original decals including the Nora Cup decal
'81-'83 GT Pro bars - original chrome, uncut, original decals, looks like an early decal, font is thicker than other originals that I have from '83
'81-'83 GT seat post - original chrome, no stamp, original decal
'83 Dia-Comp MX brake - NOS caliper, lever, and cable all date stamped '83
Tange MX6 125 headset - NOS era correct from '83 catalog, note the eight sided nuts.  The original had this, the reissues are six sided.
Xcaliber seat clamp - era correct with original decal
Sugino 44t chainring - NOS era correct
Sugino spider - NOS era correct
A'me grips - reissue

Re: 1983 GT Pro

Half the fun has been looking for parts, seeing all the old stuff.  Seeing like a dozen other builds I'd like to do in the process, lol.
