1997 Schwinn PowerGlide

Totally custom recreation of a bike I rode for two years.

Custom 1997 Schwinn Powerglide. In 1996 I bought one of these in black. I added a set of Maxy Cross 80s NOS cranks in gold, and had it painted metallic pink. I rode the shit out of it, and never quite got over selling it. I just hated the 1" Quill stem.
Last summer I decided it was time. I finally found a frame on Ebay, and set to work. The frame has had a multiple stage paint job. It had white primer, several coats of Bazooka Joe pink base coat, then lots of flattening off and masking (ghost stripes and flames) before it got silver flake, and then several coats of clear. The decals are custom, I made those myself. My name being Andrew, if you didn't know. Has a replacement head badge on it too.Specs.1997 (made and sold in 96) Schwinn Powerglide frame. All Hi Ten steel.Firecloud Sprint fork. 1" threadless. Has V brake lugs. I got it because it is almost identical to the Hydraglide boss fork.Aheadset 1" threadless.Stay Strong 1" clamp on race stem.SST Oryg NOS, with all Oryg cables. These are the ones with the pivots built in, so the luxury version.90s V bars in chrome. A labour of love indeed, knowing how much work you put into this (and all of your builds, for that matter)! Big props from Japan! :thumbs-up:

Check out my 1983 VDC-built Trident, 1983 Kuwi Laserlite, 2010 GT Ultrabox 2, 2011 Crupi race rig and prototype Quamen, plus the all things Crupi & old school scene in Japan threads. Always interested in buying used, mid-school race plates and pads - UGP, Knucklebone, Lizard Skins, Odyssey and Pryme to name but a few!!
