Chain Breaker Tool

What is the best chain breaker tool for use on thick mid school chains? My KMC one doesn't seem to let the chain sit in it and I beat up my Park mini brute.

Any info,help would be appreciated.

Hutch Fun Facts: All main line Hutch's with digits only S/N (no letters or baseballs) on the rear drop outs were US made and had their dropouts stamped between late '83 and '86.  Obviously the frame manufacture would occur slightly after that, even if they just threw 'em in a bucket randomly.  There is an obvious date code in that the first 2 digits seem to be the month and the 3rd digit is pretty obviously the last digit of the year running from '83-'86.

Park has a few of them. Which one. I messed up my mini brute, I think that was on a half link though.

Re: Chain Breaker Tool

I’ve been using the park CT 3.3 for years. Solid tool.

Re: Chain Breaker Tool

Plus One for mid and new school.

For old school, especially 3/32” I prefer a different brand.

The old ones must have been good. I've been using this cheap one for over 5 years. Half links even shadow....no problem. (Use a closed end wrench for leverage if needed)
I found it in a junk drawer of an old house that was getting demolished.

Re: Chain Breaker Tool

For 3/32” chains I use this religiously.

Pro Bike Tool

Universal Chain Tool 1 to 12 Speed, Reliable and Hardwearing Breaker for Chain Link Break and Removal, Shop Quality Bike Repair for Road and Mountain Bikes, Easy Splitter https://www.amazon.com/dp/B074DJJY6D/re … &psc=1

Park Tool 3.3 for 1/8” and half link chains.

I have (well my son) has gone through 5 tips on this breaker. They are replaceable and fairly economical. Even Porkchop BMX was selling the tips.
