Hutch Fun Facts: All main line Hutch's with digits only S/N (no letters or baseballs) on the rear drop outs were US made and had their dropouts stamped between late '83 and '86.  Obviously the frame manufacture would occur slightly after that, even if they just threw 'em in a bucket randomly.  There is an obvious date code in that the first 2 digits seem to be the month and the 3rd digit is pretty obviously the last digit of the year running from '83-'86.

Amazing score -- unbelievable even!  Can anyone answer the man's question is this a 1 of 30 first year MCS or a 1 of 100 or??  Either way "rare" is a weak term for this find!  Motomags look bada$$ on this thing cool

Re: How rare is the 1976 MCS bmx ?

Awesome find. ‘76 was indeed the first year, approximately 400 or so made. For ‘77 the Z-1 replaced the first gen and the Spider was introduced, and then the Magnum came out in late ‘78 to replace the Z-1.

Re: How rare is the 1976 MCS bmx ?

Thats awesome with the og decals intact. Last time one of these showed up it was an old shop find and one of our members here stumbled across THREE OF THEM !! I had a chance to buy one of those three and passed at the time like a dumbass. He did the research at the time and I believe Pete is correct at around 400 made. I’ll go look for the old thread and link it here if I can find it. Seems like it was 5 or 6 years ago.

Oh yeah, like the others comments, display that bad boy just as it sits patina and all. Simply awesome dude.
