That is a wonderful thing! Very nice. Yeah, if it works keep it going. Bit of grease here or Emery paper there and it’ll be grand. cool

Re: Vinyl and Vintage Audio Thread

Wow that's f'n awesome it works. I'm actually glad to hear you're not gutting it tbh, kinda made me sad a little bit. Run a bluetooth audio receiver to the external audio source for an "updated" tech.

Re: Vinyl and Vintage Audio Thread

Tube unit smile very nice! leave as, maybe upgrade the turntable and speakers.   Find a good tube amp guy to properly service, recap and add a plug with a ground before it melts down...

Re: Vinyl and Vintage Audio Thread

The smell of the old dust burning on the tubes as it warmed up was actually really cool

Thanks man! We remodeled it over the summer. I ripped down that main wall and wired all my AV stuff and ran new power lines. We’re happy with how it turned out.

I know it’s not audio but this hidden bar is, by far, my favourite piece of furniture that we own. It’s old, faded and chipped. Our mates bought it for us at a local auction for £13 ($18US) when we got our first house. I had to rewire it to get the light working.

Binman I love the bar but... when its closed it looks like it has a sad face sad I think the only time your bar may be happy is when it's open and in use smile

Ours are open with reduced capacity and some other rules in place and last call at 10pm. It is really nice to go have a pint out of the house after not being able for a few months. Thankfully patio season is on its way and we will be able to do it outdoors soon

Re: Vinyl and Vintage Audio Thread

I still need to get a record deck. I couldn't make up my mind which one I wanted. Want to play my dad's old LPs, as well as buying all of the Radiohead albums.

I didn't have a proper system since I left for the USA in 2000. I finally started building it last year. Took me nearly a year to find all of the stuff I wanted, but got there in the end. I wouldn't exactly call it vintage either so far, but some of it is 20 years old.

Tag Mclaren AV32 (surround sound processor pre amp)
Tag Mclaren 60p (centre, bi amp)
Tag Mclaren 60p (rears)
Tag Mclaren 100p (fronts)

PC running a EVGA NU sound card by Audio Note.

Revel M105 front speakers on Atacama stands
Quad S1 on Target stands (rear)
Linn Centrik centre speaker (on the floor under the TV stand)
Earthquake Couch Potato subwoofer
Lapp power cables with rhodium plated plugs
Tacima mains conditioner
Audioquest Tower interconnects and speaker cables
Norstone Bergen 2 rack

It's these two on the short list.

Re: Vinyl and Vintage Audio Thread

I’m thinking now that I’ve got a couple cool bikes I could probably trade for a nice turntable/amp/receiver/speaker setup...

Re: Vinyl and Vintage Audio Thread

Happy Friday!

Lots of cool stuff in this thread! I like the renovation project, kurt!

Only pic on my phone at the moment.. wanted to share.

https://s3.amazonaws.com/uploads.bmxmuseum.com/user-images/273401/resized_20210312_2048206074c4830c.jpeg

Been collection records for about 20 years now.. have had several older systems including old Sanusi quadrophonics and some 4 channel reel to reels.. had an Eico tube ST70 that about set my house on fire..

Within the last 5 years I bought a set of paradigm floor standing speaks and a yamaha as500.. tlhad a technics 1200 and a phono tube amp.

Got about 700 records, all mostly minty.. I'm ocd about them, like trading cards...

I will share some pics in a bit.. but thought I would stop by and say hello.. haha

Anyone do discogs?

I recapped the sansui's power supply last year.. rebuilt the crossovers in the speakers and got the spring reverb connections resoldered.. I have he other set of speakers but took up too much space in my den... its a quad amp
Works great!

The real to reel has a channel out but 3 channels work, just wish it wasnt the left channel on a 2 track recording, sucks..

My dad bought this setup when he was stationed in Japan...

Wow, I guess that is why I see so many pub sheds being built and showcased on youtube.

Very cool cabinet by the way.
