1987 GT Interceptor

My old ride from the early 90's freshly restored for my daughter in May 2020.

Bought this bike for $40, in the original Powder Blue paint with beat up yellow decals from a friend in roughly 1989/1990 (can't remember exactly). I rebuilt it with the best custom parts of the day for racing and riding around my hometown. It spent most of its life in a flat, navy blue that I painted myself until May 2020 when I properly restored it for my daughter's birthday. The bars, stem, seat clamp, post and seat are all original parts from the early 90's. Everything else is new.

Re: 1987 GT Interceptor

Hello there, sweet bike you guys have.  I was wondering what the top tube length is. We have an interceptor (at least i think) in chrome that has an 18.5" top tube length.  Is this the standard size for this frame, or was there different sizes available. I can furnish the serial number if anybody has any light to shed.

Re: 1987 GT Interceptor

Sorry, I just noticed this message. I'm not sure, but the next time we pull the bikes out for a ride I'll measure it and let you know.

Sorry, I just noticed this message. I think all 80's Interceptors have the slash cut style top tube with the GT stamp behind the seat mast. They started the flat style rear tube in 1990. I'm not sure about the top tube length, but the next time we pull the bikes out for a ride I'll measure it and let you know.

I finally remembered to measure the top tube. Yeah, 18.5".
