1986 Mongoose FS-1
1986 Mongoose FS-1
Another California survivor from the 80's. Garage-stored its entire life.
Sometimes it really pays to lurk around Craigslist. I picked up this gem in Redwood City about a month ago. It came with the old school Haro number plate w/ original stickers back from the mid-80's - it even came with the original owner's manual. I figure those two things alone were worth the $50 I paid for it! ACS Rotor headset, Pro Class stem, GT lay back seatpost, Trick Top seat, Skyway mags, Lee Chi front and rear brakes. Replaced Trick Top seat with a NOS Viscount Dominator and white donut seat clamp with a Peregrine one. Also swapped out the white VP-800 pedals with Peregrine platforms. Not too much of a freestyler, so it's now a racer/freestyle hybrid. *SOLD*

Yeah, dude. Seriously, this thing is clean. Even the folks were nice - they were moving up to Sac and had saved their son's bike so that his son could ride it. Unfortunately, he had 2 girls - I promised them I'd save it for my son (he's only 3) to enjoy it when he gets older. I would have been estatic about the bike alone - the Haro plate and documentation put it over the top!

wow,one of the most if not the most underrated frames from the 80's and yet one of the few I would be able to ride satisfactorily today,to today's riding standards, guess with simplicity comes genius, another underrated frame is the cw california flyer, pretty clean lines too...

Still can't believe this is gone - buyer got a hell of a deal. $225 shipped. Does anyone here now own it? It went with everything - Haro Flo plate and original instruction manual
