Re: WHAT IS YOUR GRAIL?!

Mine has changed over the years. Now it would be a RRS 24 cruiser. So not likely to happen any time soon.

Re: WHAT IS YOUR GRAIL?!

Mine would be a 1979, 1980, or 1981 OM Flyer. There are a lot of others I covet such as a Powerlite 3 bar 24”, 1985 Hutch Trick Star, 1982 MCS Magnum 240, and a National Pro 24”. It’s hard to pick just one but I would go with the SE.

This may seem lame but for me its the one that was stolen. We had lost everything in a flood a few months prior and it was all I had left, 1983 FMSA cycle.

Re: WHAT IS YOUR GRAIL?!

I was so fortunate to finally find my grail a year and a half ago. The Team Schwinn program was only offered for approx 1 year (78-79) with very limited production numbers. Constructed of 531 Reynolds chromoly, it was designed based on the in development Sting rear triangle section and the SX-1000 front section. Schwinn was still ironing out their tri-oval design, however they needed something more competitive in the meantime for the factory riders to compete with for the heavily advertised Schwinn National Tour. This build started life with an NOS frame and fork, all the other parts were NOS as well. This example was built as a tribute to Schwinn Team Factory rider Robby Rupe, with his help I was able to replicate his bike.

Re: WHAT IS YOUR GRAIL?!

My grail is  a 96/97 red S&M Dirtbike. I had one for a short time but traded for another Dirtbike. I have a chrome version but love red ones. If any one has one they are willing to sell or trade for. Let me know.

Red Mid School Dirtbikes are my weakness.

Not at all lame to me.
In 2007 my only bike (I had for 15 years) was stolen.  I'd just started lurking in the museum's bikes section, and for the next couple years I never even realized the "for sale" section was there.
When I eventually signed up here to re-build my bike. It took me nine years, but I finally finished it last summer. Down to the '91 Vans decal on the bars, which oddly was the hardest thing to find.
I would have gone to my grave with my one bike, had it not been stolen, and if not for the community here at the museum. Now, as of last week, I own three 1988 Rl-20IIs with survivor finish. When I started this, that did not seem achievable, and was not my plan.

Left pic is my old bike in 1996ish and the first image I posted on this site, right pic is my new one last week.

Re: WHAT IS YOUR GRAIL?!

I’d love to get my hands on a pre-Witmer original finish Cook Bros 3 bar 26” with the uni fork and stem, bars, and hubs. Not a fan of the cranks, so don’t need those tongue

But..... I can’t justify $15-20k for a bike. For that kind of money I’d rather get started on a classic car.

Re: WHAT IS YOUR GRAIL?!

That beaut is definitly grail material.

I’ve had a few 87 Maui blue performer, 87 day glow pft, 93 dyno slammer, 85 gt world tour, 88 teal Haro master.

Some I have some not yet. I don’t have an 88 teal Haro but I’ve been content with my teal 06 Haro retro sport for now.

Always wanted to find one of these Rampars.  I had the regular cheap R10 Rampar as a kid. When I saw one like this at the race track, I just thought it was the coolest thing ever.  It still might be.

Pretty rare- one year only I think.   https://bmxmuseum.com/bikes/search?comp … model=1366
