1987 Haro Group 1 RS1

A bike so cool that even when I was freestylin', I wanted one. This is how I would've built it...

I remember the first time I saw this bike in a magazine, must have been a BMX Plus because back then, I was living in Argentina and that was the only BMX magazine around, especifically in Downtown Buenos Aires. Had to take a 40 minute bus ride, walk a couple of blocks and take the subway for another 20 minutes or so, walk about 5 blocks and I'd finally arrive at the news stand that carried magazines from all over the world, if I was lucky, BMX Plus was there. Other times, if I my mom needed to go downtown, I'd go with her and she'd take me to the news stand. Anyway, I was already into freestylin' more than racing but this bike just made me wish I were good enough to stay in BMX so I could get one! Fast forward to 2017, I was up late and saw member Bshotti's listing for his restored 1987 Haro Group 1 RS1 frame, fork and bars...even though I wasn't planning on spending any money, I bought it right away, it was too nice to pass it. He did a great paint job, nice decals and it was in really good shape, not perfect, but really good shape. It's now 2020 and in the covid19 era I decided it was finally time to finish it, I'd been looking for a Redline sprocket and a Kashimax seat for a long time, if I had the money there were no good candidates or they were too expensive, when I had no money all the good deals would come up....you know the story. Finally, one evening I was visiting Robert (HEFRMLA!) and talking about builds and stuff....all I'm gonna say is that the parts I needed were here in Tucson all along! The Kashimax seat came with some incredible OG stickers and they are gonna stay there! It gave me the motivation to get on this build and finish it. I polished the brake lever, AD990 and hardware, gave the TNT stem, Redline sprocket and Peregrine clamp a brushed aluminum look. Member KrisH painted the Tech 7 body and I chose a blue brake cable housing to give it a Pistol Pete look. I wish I could put a red Hutch stem on it as Pete had at one point, but it is financially impossible right now. I hope you like it as much as I do, it is a bike I dreamed having as much as I dreamed having a Haro Master....

Nice Group 1 dude!

Life is short.  Spend it!  Looking for: I will PAY top dollar for a Fishbone 1-1/8 X-UFO  detangler.  Also need Hevron Haro stem.  Have mid school goodness to trade also.
