Old survivor I won at a local auction house.

1981 Redline Proline-II that I won at a local auction house, someone told me it might be a Carrera but I am not 100 percent sure of this.

Re: 1981 Redline Proline II

Thanks! So someone else mentioned it might be a carrera but the downtube decal doesn't mention carrera like i have seen on other bikes...this one just says proline-II....and even though frame serial hints at it being an 81 the elina seat is dated 82 and im pretty sure its original....seat has outline of faded redline script on the sides....maybe its a late 81 early 82 model

Re: 1981 Redline Proline II

Definitely an 81, appears to have brazed on dropouts.  So Carrera was the name Redline used for their complete bike model, Proline 2 was the name for the frame model.  Either way that is a nice grab from an auction house. Not sure how your going to save that seat, but will keep watching to see the progress.

Re: 1981 Redline Proline II

I have it all apart cleaning and inspecting wheels frame etc, aside from some rust pits and swirls in the chrome she's solid no cracks....cant say i dig the brazed dropouts....or should i say trust them????Probably strong as hell though as i heard brazing is superior to weld in that it is less prone to crack.
