Prices have skyrocketed
Seems prices have gone up drastically over the last year. I remember being able to pick up a nice gt, haro, dyno oem stamped seat post for 20-40 bucks just a year ago all of a sudden now these oem parts have tripled in value.
I’m glad our bikes are in such high demand but what’s the deal with prices tripling over the last year?

I’m trying really hard to complete the build I’m doing and then I’m done.
It’s completely out of hand.

Interesting topic.
You and me...we’re not that different. The difference is that you’re just too afraid to admit it...

Yup what use to be $50 bars a year ago are now $150-$200.
Again I appreciate the love these bikes are getting but boy is it getting pricey.

Let me guess you were factory sponsored in
the 80’s...
Please no colored tires on race bikes...
So how many years were you a Pro....
You knew a guy that had a Mongoose that weighed 12 pounds

I brought a skyway streetbeat for £350 6 weeks ago which I will just use for cruising around. I want a freestyle bike so I can hit the park so I was watching another streetbeat on eBay (France, forks, headset, shit brakes, crank) and it sold for £630????).... happy I got my bike but price fluctuation is driving me mad

This topic has been beat to death here. And all you'll get in the end is the guys who have an endless amount of money telling you to quit crying or GTFO. Seen it a million times. Guy can't enjoy building his childhood bike/bikes anymore. I have one last build to complete and I'm done as well.

You’re right but it seems to have gotten a lot worse within this last year.

Re: Prices have skyrocketed
Stock is vanishing fast here in the UK. Prices, however, are still good due to lots of competition between distros.

^This^ I’m not for the ridiculously over the top prices that even mid school has hit the last couple years but there are and will be good deals out there. Just don’t feed the greedy and let there shit sit until the they eventually lower there prices or simply ignore them. It’s the luck of the draw in the BMX game nowadays.

Used to be a fun “ hobby”. Now it’s more of a business than its ever been. And I’ve been on here for nearly 15 years and Saw lots of the peaks and lows of the sport and The hobby. You can thank all these new members and new “ collectors “ with their ridiculous prices. And then everyone thinks they have gold! And then they all just follow suit. I’m glad I ride my bikes more than invest in them. Great job guys. Way to ruin a fun hobby.

That’s quite unfair to finger point just to new members. I’ve been here under 3 years but have been in the game for 30 years.

Re: Prices have skyrocketed
I think he means those who “score” then price “inquire” then flip in the for sale section 20 mins later. Those who hang around are the enthusiasts. (And the cooks)

Maybe his words just came off strong to me I guess Tim. Judging from his extremely impressive collection it looks like a investment to me but to each its own as well as the cooks.

Re: Prices have skyrocketed
I listed a set of Peregrine super pros on eBay just this week for a high starting price. Then got an attack of the guilts and pulled the ad.
Probably list them again for 0.99c starting bid. Let the market decide.

Re: Prices have skyrocketed
I mean pretty much new members who joined a day prior With no posts, no feedback, and post up crappy complete bikes For sale For $3000-$5000. Because that’s what’s happening. And the next guy thinks his bike is worth at least that, if not more. Then the veteran “sellers” start doing the same. So then he lists one for that. And there it begins.
