1987 Redline 500b

Bike was white and had 85 stckers on it looked original until I got it home and noticed had a late 87 serial number which was sold as an 88. I discover some gray sticking out the rear dropouts  which I then discovered white wasn’t original paint. The guy I bought from had it built very cool I loved it. But the original color was calling to me so after weeks of research found out it’s an 1988 400c first year of zebra stripes decals before they actually turned them into zebra stripes. So here it is! added forklifter and some race forklifter bars to make it look race ready, mx1000 rear brake,NOS see through red grips chromed the fork,Cali red and black original color with the gray back.love this bike will never sell it

Re: 1987 Redline 500b

1987 could be a 400c.

I can't believe the way people mistreat bikes. It also amazes me how many people don't have any bikes and never ride them - poor miserable souls.

Agree I rescued this bike and am restoring it to original but problem is I don’t know if I’m 1987 they had theses decals that’s the only reason I’m thinking not original paint any help would be appreciated

Re: 1987 Redline 500b

Those look like early 80s decals to me. The serial number will tell you the year and if it's been repainted it's tough to tell what model. There was no 500b in '87.

I just put 500b in there to fill the box in when I put on there. And yea I’m assuming those decals are 82-85.do you know what numbers are for original colors in serial number?
