Peregrine Super Pro HP48s vs current offerings

How do Super Pro HP48s (Suzue/Ukai) stack up against current 48 spoke offerings from GSport, Bone Deth, Haro, Colony, etc. in terms of durability, build quality, chrome and whatever else you can think of?  I’m interested how the hubs compare as well the rims.

Re: Peregrine Super Pro HP48s vs current offerings

Don’t compare at all, I love hp48’s and I remember getting my first set in 97 but they didn’t last long at all, Even with axle upgrades they still bent, not a problem I have today and I’m 5 stone heavier now lol,  todays wheels are much stronger and preform for longer

Agreed. I think you are better off getting new school stuff for riding but if you want that Peregrine look, check out the Haro Lineage 48’s. They are decent.

48's are obsolete.  They were head and shoulders above the rest at their time but now Peregrine wheels are ok.  There are better choices out there.  Just like a 1988 car was nice, the new ones are better.

Any decent new rim is gonna be better. Were Peregrine 48's even double walled rims?

not the same hubs. suzie are what Peregrine uses it's free wheel.
Bone Death 48 is a free coaster hub or can be in a cassette total diff animals.

so depends what type riding you do with either one / brand.

Regular lose ball Peregrine were  double walled Peregrine HP supper pro's wear sealed laced to triple wall rims. Phat jacks same basic set up but had 14mm axles.

but still any new school rim will most slickly kick their ass. tongue

Re: Peregrine Super Pro HP48s vs current offerings

Just so people know,48's are not obsolete! Many modern day riders still run them due to them destroying 36H wheels.
