1979 Coast Wheels
1979 Coast Wheels
Holy Grail of CW History, (Pre CW) 20"
For those unfamiliar, Coast Wheels is CW before it was CW. When this bike was made, they were still a one-location bike shop in Southern California. At the time, they had an up and coming racing team that was beginning to make noise on the national circuit (which at the time was still pretty much California). Mike Miranda was the headliner of the stacked Coast Wheels squad, but they also had some younger guys tearing up the junior circuit. Roger Worsham, the owner of Coast Wheels, wanted to get into manufacturing on a larger scale and distribute his products worldwide through his mail-order business "Worldwide BMX," using his race team to get public attention to the brand. The Coast Wheels bike shop was sold in late 79 or early 80 to one of the team member's family. The team and manufacturing was kept by Mr. Worsham and rebranded as "CW Racing," still using the same team colors and logo font. In 1980 CW Racing began offering the famous oval top tube Z framesets (not to be confused with Phaze 1's...that was a few years later) and the rest is history.

Re: 1979 Coast Wheels
I tried like hell to get this from the previous owner but when I had the money, he wasn't ready. When he was ready, I didn't have the money. When I contacted him again, he had made a deal with you the day before. Amazing bike. Glad it is with a good steward. Looks AMAZING!
I live for Race Inc, SE Racing, GJS, Navajo, Nomura, GHP and Prodyne!!!
