1984 Diamond Back Formula 1
1984 Diamond Back Formula 1
A Special Build
Most of my collection is of a personal nature. I set out to find all this bikes my friends and I had growing up in the 80’s. This gem is one of them. I purchased the frame set earlier this year at a BMX show in Crown Point, Indiana. After sourcing some parts from site members and even a couple local Craigslist finds this is the end result. The bike is all correct minus the repop tires and pads. I went a different direction with the hubs due to a lacing issue, but couldn’t be happier with how this one turned out. Thanks for checking out my ride...

Re: 1984 Diamond Back Formula 1
I remember all my friends having vipers. My mom took me to the bike shop In Longview Texas looking for one. They were sold out but he had a FO setting in the stands. He took it out for me and I couldn’t believe how light it was. I was floored when my mom asked “is this ok? It’s not the one you wanted” the only more legendary bike was a HL turbo!!! In about 1996 I went home to my parents home and was looking around out back. While walking back up I noticed my bike was missing. It had been there since high school. 89-90ish. I asked my dad where it was and he told me “oh that old bike. I gave it to some kids up the street. It didn’t work anyway” I broke the crank on a triple and kinda stopped riding. Great bike and your lucky to have it!
