1981 GT 26

I bought this bike from a nice guy in Hawaii. I replaced the bars, seatpost and pedals. Other than that it has remained just as I got it. But it is by far the best bike I have owned, perfect for cruis

Parts Break Down
* 81' 26" GT Frame/Fork
* Early Powerlite Cruiser Bars
* Inverted DK Stem
* Kashimax Aero Seat
* Bullseye Hubs laced to unknown rims
* Campy cranks
* Cook Bros bottom bracket
* Dia Comp brakes
* Crupi Pedals

Re: 1981 GT 26

So question for you guys...I have a set of black 26" Z rims and I am thinking about switching them out for the chrome wheelset. So What do you think...Chrome or black wheels?

Re: 1981 GT 26

Mike,

That looks killer! I'd leave the Arayas on there. They look fantastic.

I'm totally digging the Campy cranks. They look so good. In fact, sooo good, I'm thinking about putting era correct aluminium 3 piece cranks on my 81 GT 26!

Nice 26!

Re: 1981 GT 26

Thinking of pulling off the decals with the foil backing and switching them out to some that are on a clear background.  Give the 26er the look of the frame in the link below:

http://bmxmuseum.com/bikes/gt_bicycles/34703

Good idea or bad idea since it wouldn't be era correct?

Re: 1981 GT 26

DO IT! :D....but make sure you get some quality decals...A lot of the Gt decals on clear backing are not flashed white behind them and will look transparent when placed on a black frame.
