Re: Post Resto Work Here

Thank you!!! Yeah I have the stencil but I just gave in after all that work done. I’ll eventually paint the logo back on.

Your work is super nice. My favorite though is the DGO ‘87 PFT.

Re: Post Resto Work Here

That is some killer work! That chain and crank is impressive. I did a chain once and it is a ton of work, wouldn't do it again. Lol. That scrambler is bad ass. The detail is amazing. You can tell when someone puts there heart and soul into a bike, just look at Justin's bikes.

Re: Post Resto Work Here

Didn't go to the auto parts store and buy pinstripe tape. Used cheapo electrical vinyl tape and an exacto blade. Primer, color, clear. Took a lot of work to make something durable in my climate. Done!

The real story about nowoldschool is I bought an Elm Street tire. Later I got a message saying he wanted $10 more through Friends and Family or he would cancel the sale. I left a neutral feedback about it and he returned a neutral. I asked to have it removed, but had to agree to his being wiped too. After my pro membership expired I left a negative for how it went down.

I whiten them in steps.  1st step is remove the brake rub I soak in wd40 then use non scratch 3m pads.  If it's real bad I use steal wool and wd40.  I also mix in gojo cleaner the grit helps.     I clean real good using mean green degreaser.    Next I tape off the metal real good.   I used peroxide gel 50 (hair developer) I get it off eBay. You cake it on thick and leave in the sun.   Every half hour or so I spray peroxide liquid on it from a spray bottle to try and keep somewhat wet.   Every hour turn wheel a bit so sun hits all angles.   After for hours rinse and re apply the developer and start again.    Usually 2 solid 4 hour sessions is enough per side.    Last wash good .  I blow them dry with air compressor then I apply back to black spray (from Auto parts store).  Leave it on a while then wipe off with micro fiber towel.    Tips : don't developer on metal it will eat it.  Get the spray back to black not gel, and get a cheap spray bottle to spritz with peroxide every so often.     Also this works for brake cables, brake pads, seats , etc.   I find all of my OGKs this is awesome.   Tomahawk wheels are a slightly different material for some reason they don't stay bright white like ogks do.  They have a chalky finish .

How to make your 2019 GT cranks look better.   The only issue I found with the new 2019 cranks is the bolts.   For some reason the 19 models don't take replacement pinch bolts. The hole got smaller. (My 2017 model has larger holes)  Also the axle bolts are impossible to find so here's what I have done on my riders.    Soak the original pinch bolts in paint stripper then use an sos pad they actually come out like chrome. (Do bottom side off pinch bolts they show as well)    I use fine sand paper and wet sand the axle bolts.   Once I get the black off I hand polish them with cream.    Last I wipe them with alcohol and spray just the axle bolts with clear.    ( They will rust if left bare).   Then boom perfect riders with legit black logos.  I do the same on the black model cranks to .

Re: Post Resto Work Here

Angelo’s stuff looks phenomenal. I have his Tech 7’s, DC 883 and 990 on my ‘89 restoration. Powder coat is equal to C4 but his attention to detail goes beyond. Painting the logos back on the 883 is a nice touch that C4 doesn’t do.

I wish someone would stencil or make a rub on for the Odyssey Gyro G1. Stickers look “aftermarket” and scream “not original”. However I have yet to find a survivor or NOS white gyro that is actually white and matches the brake paint/powder.

So frustrating.
