Post Resto Work Here

Thought it would be cool to see some work that everyone is doing. I'm always looking for new ideas and ways do do things for awesome results. I will start with stuff I did this week. I ran white and Maui blue. All parts were block sanded and steel wool before powder. If anyone is interested on how the stamps are done I will add that process tomorrow. Lets see what you guys have done!

Re: Post Resto Work Here

Hey do I recognize some hubs in there?  Wow!

Hutch Fun Facts: All main line Hutch's with digits only S/N (no letters or baseballs) on the rear drop outs were US made and had their dropouts stamped between late '83 and '86.  Obviously the frame manufacture would occur slightly after that, even if they just threw 'em in a bucket randomly.  There is an obvious date code in that the first 2 digits seem to be the month and the 3rd digit is pretty obviously the last digit of the year running from '83-'86.

Re: Post Resto Work Here

I found a old gt add for race hubs or race lace as we call them and they were available in chrome whote and blue only. I'm going to see if I can find the add and post it. I'm still looking for a front first gen so I can do a white set. The white set I have is busy right now, lol. Thanks for the comments. Those bar ends came out sweet, I like how you saved the og stamps. http://uploads.bmxmuseum.com/user-images/240431/20190912_1429125d896c4f98.jpg

Re: Post Resto Work Here

Working on some smalls tonight.   I did these with flat white spray paint in the cap and brushed it on.  Hit it with a hair dryer for a minute then wiped it off with laqer thinner .   The trick is to use a t-shirt tight on your finger and wipe it off.   A regular cloth is too rough

Re: Post Resto Work Here

I refinished this 87 seat clamp like an 86.   I used spray paint then I got some super fine sandpaper from an auto parts store and wet sanded it down. Then polished by hand. I probably should have waited a week or 2 before wet sanding but I did it then next day . http://uploads.bmxmuseum.com/user-images/225892/img_20190914_1453315d7d3d7203e6c_blowup5d897360d9.jpg

Got tired of looking for white chainrings so I painted these.   The trick is to use super slim pin striping from an auto parts store you can bend it for a perfect edge around the teeth. One of these was anodized so I used oven cleaner to strip it 1st
