Torker Freestylist Forks. Real Or Not Real. There Are Others Out There

Ok. So I won these in an eBay auction. I was in the middle of moving at the time so after a quick look they went right into a box. Months go by and one day I am talking to another member here about gjs Freestyler forks and I was telling him how I had these Torker Freestylist forks that I was thinking of offering up for trade on the gjs forks. This is where it went bad for me.

He asked me where I got the fork from. I told him eBay. He said send pics of the fork because he had just bought what he believed to be a fake as well. Only then did I put the fork right up to the fork on my freestylist frame set and I started to see the little differences. We never talked about who he bought his fake one from.

I filed a claim months later and was told I had buyers remorse by the seller. I told the seller I suspected them to be fake and I could not list them for trade or sale because of that. I got burned does not mean I burn the next guy. I told him I would withdraw the claim and post them up on the museum and let the community decide on fake or real, since he is a member here as well. He declined that offer. I lost the claim.

Not looking to try and recover anything at all from the seller. Would like to know if anyone could, or even better, if a few people could agree on real or fake. Like I said in the heading, there are others out there, I watched same seller sell another fork at auction and told me he had another one. After I had long paid for mine. Became more obvious when he kept listing them, or he had 3 freestylist forks with no frames?

Any help is appreciated. If you bought a Freestylist fork off eBay in the past 2 years, you may have one of these as well.
More info available if the are 100% determined fake.
Transaction did not go down here.

Re: Torker Freestylist Forks. Real Or Not Real. There Are Others Out There

Seller swore to me how dumb I am and that Torker made different variations of these forks. Maybe so, that is yet to be determined. Sure as hell don't look like anything I have seen Torker weld back then.

Im not an expert by any means but judging by the welds of the known real vs the possible fakes id say they are fake those welds are disgusting looks like someone just learning made those.

Re: Torker Freestylist Forks. Real Or Not Real. There Are Others Out There

They were looking pretty good until those welds- I'm certainly no expert on Torker but they look bogus to me based on those welds alone.

And yeah, just a little conspicuous to have three sets without frames... Not saying the dude you got them from is scammer. Maybe he picked 'em up thinking real deal also...  Did he share where he got them from?

IMO I would say they’re fake. Those welds where the legs and steering tube come together are horrendous!

Re: Torker Freestylist Forks. Real Or Not Real. There Are Others Out There

looking at the few gems in the museum with that fork,  none of them have legs going up that high on the tube.

Whats up with the weld at the bottom of the steer tube? Like some sort of sleeve welded inside?  Weird

Re: Torker Freestylist Forks. Real Or Not Real. There Are Others Out There

I am definitely feeling that they are fake myself.

Seller told me he got three in one shot from someone else. I have screen shots of all of our conversations.
Never once had any concern that he may have been selling fakes. If it was me and someone contacted me telling me I sold them fake parts I would feel sick. Would do anything I could to make up for my mistake and just hope it was perceived as a mistake and forgiven.
Instead he swore I had buyers remorse and told me he has so much Torker stuff it will make my head spin. Did not give 2 sh!ts if what he sold was authentic.....Just the money.

Re: Torker Freestylist Forks. Real Or Not Real. There Are Others Out There

So, I'll share the money end of it now 867.00.
Call me stupid, call me whatever you want, yes 867.00.
I know I am never getting it back and these are looking to be garbage but I would never list them as anything but REPOP Torker forks. Unlike the seller in question who sold them to me..........
Still want more confirmation on fake even though I don't feel its needed. Still helps.

Once they are determined fake for sure I will give up the sellers name for sure. Don't want anyone else getting burnt by a fraud.

Ah man, I get that, especially when you are pissed...they'd be good on a rider though. maybe just stamp the steer tube "FAKE" or something.  ?

Remember that PM where I mentioned sometimes you get a part and you just wanna toss it in the garbage?  ...I get it.

Real fork platform has same shape cookie cutter look as frame platform.http://uploads.bmxmuseum.com/user-images/210784/img_86135c7c226c9c.jpg
Suspected fake is different.http://uploads.bmxmuseum.com/user-images/210784/img_86145c7c228a1f.jpg
Slight but noticeable. More squared.

Standers look to be welded on in same spots on forks. Dropouts look to different lengths.

The welds would have been enough for me to not even consider buying them, fake or not they are junk.

Re: Torker Freestylist Forks. Real Or Not Real. There Are Others Out There

Sucks to hear this. You have some awsome pieces and one can understan it takes some serious funds to be at that level. No one wants to get ripped off.  This thread is also a great reminder that we should always inspect our purchases right away regardless of cost or if we're going to be building soon or later in the future. And kudos to you for starting your post this way and not just coming out bashing someone before doing your homework.

Just because I'm to big to ride it doesn't mean I'm not going to build it or buy it.

Re: Torker Freestylist Forks. Real Or Not Real. There Are Others Out There

I own a Freestylist with original forks, in addition to several other Torkers.  The standers look wrong, and I have never seen anything by Torker with welds as bad as those.  Sorry to say it but those are fakes.

I had heard this had been done, due to the rarity of finding original Freestylist forks.  Just look how many of the Freestylists on here have the wrong fork.

Looking for Pre-85 Torker stuff:
- Eddy King f/f
- MX "Big Bike"
- Cruiser or pro bars
- Pads, stems, or anything else!

Re: Torker Freestylist Forks. Real Or Not Real. There Are Others Out There

Well I think we all nailed them down as FAKES. The person who sold them to me and then tried to ridicule me with their knowledge is knucklebutt. Won them at auction on eBay. Same name here.
I guess he is just in it for the money. You got me for a lot of money. I hope it feels good.
