Eastern Frame resto

Picked this new school Eastern frame up yesterday.  It was being sold as a giant, but i knew the logo on the lower headtube gusset and dropouts right away.  I still am not sure what model this frame is, it has a 20.75" top tube and there are differences between it and seemingly every other eastern frame i have found in the museum and online.  The closest i have found so far is a 2011 RamRodder, which is not correct either as the top tube length is wrong.  Either way, it should make a fun little project.http://uploads.bmxmuseum.com/user-images/208397/20190822_1916285d5f3d7671.jpg

Re: Eastern Frame resto

After its chemical bath, i started the initial sanding process.  I will likely finish after dinner tonight.

Re: Eastern Frame resto

There, round one of initial sanding is done.  I had to give special attention to the headtube as the headset was lodged in there and was using rust as lube instead of grease.  But it cleaned up very well.  There is not too much for dents or scratches on this frame.  I will take it to the shop and pull out any small dents with the stud welder.   Wont take much.  Im thinking of paint jobs already.  I have some left over satin black from my fathers 1950 chevy struck we are painting, so maybe i will use that.  Or maybe i will decide something else.  I have a bunch of white parts to install on this, so that will affect my decision.  Stay tuned for more.

Same same but different... (different model obviously)

One I picked up in the same condition as yours, stripped sanded, etc, etched primed and ready for a new life.

Re: Eastern Frame resto

Started cleaning up some of the little tight areas.  Good progress so far.  Hoping to do some dent repair later this afternoon.  Id like to get the frame in primer this weekend yet.

Re: Eastern Frame resto

Well i went straight to the shop and put a couple studs on the one chainstay.  The dent popped out pretty well.  Not perfect, but pretty good.  Then i grabbed the spot putty and smeared it into all the little scraches and dings i could find.  I should be able to sand it smooth after i eat some lunch.  For now its drying.

Re: Eastern Frame resto

Say maybe 95% ready for primer.  Small areas left drying after a second round of spot putty

Re: Eastern Frame resto

Not sure.  I thought about satin black.  But i kind of want something else that pops a bit more.  I have an abundant amount of white Shadow Conspiracy parts that i am going to use.  Only need to get a diff BB, and find some cheap 9t wheels.  I have a few 25t sprockets to choose from.

The bars, forks, and cranks are all satin white.  Everything else has a gloss finish

Re: Eastern Frame resto

I'm going to guess pre 2007 model.  Lack of integrated ST clamp and cutouts on the ST are why.  My AoS had those features.
