THE 5TH ANNUAL BMXMUSEUM SPRING BUILD OFF RULES AND PROGRESS!!!!!!!

OK< the threads are still active.. just moved to the Build off forum.. GAry

http://uploads.bmxmuseum.com/user-images/138491/untitled-25c95772ab1.jpg

Here are the Rules:
***********************************************************************
•    Each member of the Museum can submit up to 4 (1 for each class) bikes into the Build Off, as long as you are a BMXmuseum member before March 23rd, 2019 you can participate.

•    The entry threads will close on April 6th, 2019 at 9:00 PM (PST) Completed Builds can be submitted any time after May 11th, 2019 when the completed thread opens. The deadline to submit a complete will be May 25th, 2019. That is a 14 day window to submit your bikes. Voting threads will open May 28th, 2019 until June 15th, 2019

•    When posting your final picts in the COMPLETED THREADS, only 4 pics will be allowed. Again this year, a short description w/picts is fine but no stories please. Any miscellaneous comments from others will be deleted without warning. These threads will only be for participating members to show their final shots. Any comments can be added to the link below in the comments/progress thread.

•    All bikes must be BMX or FREESTYLE. Restored, Polished, Spray bombed, Re-Chromed, NOS, Survivor, whatever you want to enter is fine.

•    Bikes MUST be built within the time frame given. No previously submitted bikes to the Museum or in other build-offs are allowed.

•    All members of the BMXMuseum will be able to vote as long as you registered BEFORE May 19th, 2019! You CAN vote for your own bike. You will vote for your favorite bike in each class, (4 choices total) in the voting thread. Most votes gets first place, second most gets second place, Etc. If there are any ties GAry will be the tie breaking vote.

•    Most of all lets have fun building some cool bikes!!!!!!!!!
Here are the links to the different classes. Please enter your bike in the correct place. Survivors/OG & Restored bikes will compete with each other in their respective class.

Freestyle–20" all years— https://bmxmuseum.com/forums/viewtopic.php?id=790497
Race–20" all years— https://bmxmuseum.com/forums/viewtopic.php?id=790495
Open–16" Pits/24”/26”/29” cruisers/Any Customs— https://bmxmuseum.com/forums/viewtopic.php?id=790493
Any Completed Bike Never in a Build Off!— https://bmxmuseum.com/forums/viewtopic.php?id=790498

Explanation of the Open class—Custom means welding would have to be involved such as a 20" cut down to a 16" pit or added to making a 24". Just as shown with the terminology for Race/Freestyle, ANY 20" all years.

Explanation of the Any Completed Bike class—We are looking for very nice, quality pictures!! Please do NOT submit fuzzy/shaky, blurry photos, etc.  The better the photo, the higher the chances of getting votes will be.  This isn't a contest of who built the best bike and leaned it against a lawn chair in their back yard and took a picture with their flip phone.  Any bike that has already been built/survivor/etc. submitted in the museum. Any year, Race, Freestyle, any size. Basically any bike that is allowed on the museum is good to go as long as it has never been entered into a prior build off.  We just ask that you please submit the bike to the museum. If it is already in the museum, please update with the new picture.

Use this thread for all progress, banter, etc.!!

FAQ

There's been some confusion on the new "All Bikes" class which is expected since it's brand spankin' new.  Here are some of the questions I've had in PM and the answers provided.

Q:  Can I submit a bike that's already in the museum?
A:  YES you can with the following requirements (1) Take FRESH pictures and update your bike in the museum with those. (2) Post these new pictures in the submission thread when they are posted. (3) Do NOT post a bike that has already been in a build off.  This is hard to police but be honest please but I'm also hoping everyone will report ones they've seen in build offs before just to keep it fair.

Q:  Does my bike need to look different than the original submission if it is already in the museum?
A:  NO, although see the prior question/answer.  The pictures needs to be FRESH and CLEAN and also please update your posted bike with these when taken.

Q:  If my bike is almost completed already, does it need to go in the "All Bikes" class?
A:  NO, if your bike is still in the build phase, you can and should enter it into one of the 3 build classes (RACE/OPEN/FREESTYLE).

The key to this year's build off is to be as inclusive as possible.  About the only things you CANNOT enter are non-BMX bikes or something that's already been in a build off.  If you can't decide what class to enter into, feel free to PM me and we can figure it out. cool

Also remember, 1 bike per class per member.  If you already entered a bike in RACE for example, it cannot also be entered in the "All Bikes" class as well.

Re: THE 5TH ANNUAL BMXMUSEUM SPRING BUILD OFF RULES AND PROGRESS!!!!!!!

It's here guys and gals!  We've added a new class this time around too which allows members to post their already completed bikes again or for the first time.  Read those rules carefully and the others.  Keep an eye out for the entry links sometime tomorrow.

Hell yes. I’ll for sure be making an entry to the new already built class cool and probably one to the race class that I’m currently gathering parts for.

I started a build thread in January, still not finished. Wondering what class to enter? Do I need to enter it in completed?

Enter it into one of the 3 build classes depending upon what it is.  The finished class is really designed to give members a chance to show off their pride and joy that was never in a build off.

I would think that freestyle would probably cover that?

I consider that “freestyle” myself but it’s not hard to make a case for “race” as I’ve seen plenty of Holmes and other bikes like that listed as race in the past.  I’m ok either way unless it’s got pegs or a detangler, then it’s 100% freestyle.

Re: THE 5TH ANNUAL BMXMUSEUM SPRING BUILD OFF RULES AND PROGRESS!!!!!!!

For completed bike class - My bike is 99% complete, and may not be 100% by April 5th deadline for entry. However, it definitely will be complete by May 11th submission. Am I good to go, or would I have to submit into Museum and Entry as is by April 5th?

You’re good as long as the bike is done for the submission deadline.  If it’s not done yet, it could also be entered into one of the 3 build classes.

Well, it's a 29", so I think the completed class is the only one I can put it in.
