I scored a "star"

Grabbed this all survivor Trick Star tonight. It has to be a super early version of a rotor. I've never seen one this skinny. Loaded with woody bars, GT parts galore, Peregrine mags, Tioga sprocket and CW pedals. Oh, did I mention the uncracked Dia Comp Tech 7 locking levers?

Re: I scored a "star"

What a week!

Hutch Fun Facts: All main line Hutch's with digits only S/N (no letters or baseballs) on the rear drop outs were US made and had their dropouts stamped between late '83 and '86.  Obviously the frame manufacture would occur slightly after that, even if they just threw 'em in a bucket randomly.  There is an obvious date code in that the first 2 digits seem to be the month and the 3rd digit is pretty obviously the last digit of the year running from '83-'86.

Nice pick up. Don't think the detangler is an ACS unit. I wanna say Attila, or Cam version. Can't place it right now though.

Re: I scored a "star"

Are you going to raffle it off too?

Just because I'm to big to ride it doesn't mean I'm not going to build it or buy it.

I agree. Some weird part of me almost wishes it was a world tour frame though. Maybe its all the GT extras on it.

Remember....if everyone came to a bike show without a bike, it would just be a bunch of dudes standing around in a park...and that's just creepy!  If you've got one, bring one.  -Me

holy crap, ultimate freestyle machine.  You can tell this guy lived freestyle, complete with Rad Ron's nameplate.  Where did the frame get cracked/rewelded?

Re: I scored a "star"

First, how do things like that stay hidden? Second, how could anyone who was obviously so involved at one point in their life even part with something like that?

Seat mast probably from running the seat too high at some point. Normally, Trickstars were famous for snapping at the bb, the tt (right behind the angled bar) or the brake plate.
