1986 GT Timberline 26
1986 GT Timberline 26
ATB meets BMX .
This was an Extremely Well made bike by GT ..from its euro BB to the Suntour stamped drop outs and intergraded QR seat clamp. Not to mention the epoch headset, Sugion 3pc And Araya rims with SR sealed hubs. And there were so many more Japanese components I had to swapped out for the BMX conversion... Super light and very quick!! Gotta love the early ATB’s (Last pic was as found in Morristown NJ)
Converted back to MTB: See 1st ,2nd and 3rd pic.

Hey, this is really nice! I just got a chrome from what amounts to a barn find (Seattle garage) and in the process of fixing it up. Hoping you can answer some quick questions.
In terms of the BMX drive train, what did you use? I'm going to need to swap out the bearings and b/b, and kind of don't know where to start on size and products. Also, wondering if you discovered a limit on the front sprocket size?
Love your bike, I'm hoping for a similar outcome with mine . Thanks!
