I'm on here today excited and waiting on my childhood bike to arrive. I also wanted to ask someone when did 1 1/8 and other size forks start? When I last worked on bikes all of the forks were threaded and mostly interchangeable.

Late 80s took off in the 90s until currently

Yeah, took off in about 95

Thank You guys, it's appreciated.

Had that problem w/ my Jag last year. Trans cooler line had a leak & Tech wanted $4000 + labor to fix it. Did it myself for $150. big_smile

Benz isnt shifting (luckily i am in 3rd gear not first or second like most of the people on the forums i have read so I can at least drive 50-55mph right now).
already checked the mass air flow sensor, battery voltage, checked the fluid level,  the tcm (had a little fluid so replaced it with one that has the upgraded seals),  the tcu (fluid had wicked its way all the way up the lines from the trans to the passenger floorboard where it is via the wires, so i dried it with some electric parts cleaner and tested it, all was okay),  checked all wheel speed sensors for proper voltage, and checked the neutral safety switch.   Just ordered the valve body/conductor plate/shift soleniods as well as a new filter and gasket and an expensive diagonstic scanner (cheap ones wont clear drivetrain codes on a benz), now I just have to wait until they show up to install them.  Dont really drink and had to quit smoking herbals due to the job but it is time to throw back a few, order a pizza and take the bike out for a ride in the rain.

Re: What are you doing tonight?

Heading out on my MCS cruiser.  I've passed on buying a few really nice bikes this month in order to spend more time riding my bikes and less time driving places to buy new ones.

Re: What are you doing tonight?

Went for a swim, cleaned the house, watching Battle of the 80s Supercars on History Channel.

Kurt, I like the RHCP but more of an 80's mode..Freaky Styley is still one of my faves.

They are one band that I’ve loved from beginning to now.

Still like em, but it's more hit or miss for me since the mid 90s.  I saw them once in 99 and was happy but don't think I'd pay to see em again.  The stuff I like best is the stuff before they were known so I know they aren't gonna play that.

I'm currently driving a G wagon and pray I don't get a code before I sell it! alrady spent $300 just to do a oil change on it.

Re: What are you doing tonight?

many members here speak of fancy cars...quit that shit and get yourself some vehicles that don’t beep when you don’t put your seatbelt on. Those are the vehicles that are cheap and easy on maintenance and diagnosing issues.
For example I drive a 2002 Toyota 4Runner. I can run it out of oil and refill....I change the oil filter every 3rd oil change.....runs like a champ.
I don’t want to wear a seatbelt? Guess what.....I can still put it in 1st gear!
