my Shadiest pick up ever general Fred blood score

This story is a little lengthy.I see this general on a website two weeks ago, and can tell the frame is clean, and the sprocket is original-but everything else is foggy.Contact the seller-nothing.Yesterday,he leaves a message its still available on said website.I leave my number and tell him to text/call me when he wants to meet up-nothing.Today,i get a text near the late afternoon-and the texts are long and very time consuming-but after awhile he finally gives me and address.he tells me to pull in to the alley behind the street. As I pull up to the area of the house(no numbers)-I see two meth heads working on a truck-all filthy dirty.I go to the corner pull over and text the guy-no response.Call the number, rings about five times and goes to message.GREAT.Get out and walk to the opposite side of the street-which is under the interstate-and walk to where the guys are working on the truck. When I get there, the one guy starts to walk toward the end of the street where my truck is parked-I say-Hey,I'm here for the bikes this 2503 ?.He turns and makes a bee line toward me and walks across the street(I'm twice his sizes not that worried at that point). He says yearend walks back over the street and yells through a screen door into the darkness some guys name.Guy comes to the door, and tells me to come in.I walk in and there are motorcycles, bike parts, scooters-you name it in there. The bike is there, and we start to talk about it.It has no seat clamp-and the seat post is just sitting in there with a seat on it.He says"You can pick out any seat you want for it, if you don't like that one".I pull it out to check the keyhole and hand it to him.I've seen enough-and it's definitely time to get out of there. So,I walk the bike out the door-and The guy says "hey, do you want this seat?".At this point I'm about six feet from the door, and I say"sure"-He sticks his one foot out the door and says "you have to come get it,I'm on house arrest".I go over and get it and get the hell out of there. The things we do for this hobbyI'm not a freestyle guy, but the bars look like Schwinn to me-anyone?http://uploads.bmxmuseum.com/user-images/133551/img_84015d22997f7a.jpg

Really good score! Im glad you were able to save that bike. Im really surprised it's in such good shape & mostly original parts. Usually when I find bikes in bad neighborhoods they have mixed up parts & are spray bombed.

Yes,as you can see it has the low rider wheels-I was shocked too, that the frameset is this clean.

Those are the correct bars for the bike.  Anlun also used them on the '87 Jamis Laser Fast Times. Nice find and story!

Re: my Shadiest pick up ever general Fred blood score

That's a wild story. Glad you got out of there with a bike and you, all in one piece. I would have definitely been carrying on that one.

About 5 years ago I traded a street bike for a race bike with a member here, went to his place and was a great guy to deal with, all smooth, later on believe the guy went to jail?

Crazy world.

Re: my Shadiest pick up ever general Fred blood score

Well done, that would've made me get very nervous doing that! yikes

Sounded like the scene in Goodfellas where Jimmy Conway was trying to get Karen Hill into his "store" to look at some clothes........ yikes

Glad to see you got it in the long run.

No worries if it was stolen?

Wanted- White Industries Freewheel 19T and 20T, and Big Gulp bars- because I think they look goofy enough to cruise with!

those are the OG bars for that bike as well as the Osborn pro. cool score. I'd picked one up from a police auction many years ago.

I am surprised how clean it is. Tweaker bikes are never that nice and have a menagerie of parts. I bet someone traded the bike for a little baggie smile

Amazing condition on the frame!  Those rear framestands are usually bashed in.  Must have been stored away for 30 years and recently pulled out to bike it back to a rider
