Re: Stranger Things Edition Mongoose
According to the Mongoose Rep. I was talking with at the Rockford Midwest Nationals this past Saturday, this is only 1 of a few upcoming retro bikes that Mongoose will be producing. The one he had with the Team bikes at their tent had a very short top tube of only 19.25 in. Kind of nice to see some of the older companies getting into the retro market.

Call another target! One had them on the floor already (manager was a dick, wouldn’t sell me one in box) the other Target was super helpful. Their computer did not have a release date so make sure you talk to a “cool” employee in the toy department.

That's what I did. I have to drive an hour, but I have one on hold in the box.

Re: Stranger Things Edition Mongoose
A friend of mine mentioned how bad the "chrome" was....it isn't chrome, it's silver. A silver that looks like aged nickel plating almost.
If you get one and decide to move the light bracket forward, as it you should, make sure you loosen the clamp screws to where the clamp is almost apart and carefully adjust its position and then tighten up the screws. My bars got scratched, they scratch easily. Also, put the stem pad on before moving the bracket and adjust accordingly, the pad will touch the bracket no matter what, but it can be minimized.

Re: Stranger Things Edition Mongoose
I should add, it’s painted silver. Looks like chrome from far away.
Got to sell some stuff so I can go get the built one. I want one in the box and one to display in my bike room next to my 82 goose. My wife told me she loves me even though she doesn’t understand me!??!

Re: Stranger Things Edition Mongoose
Iver heard from a few friends that the stores are building them quick. Target makes employees build their bikes and they butcher them. Act quick if you want a nice non scratched one!!

Possibly some kid who gets one from target will look for another one...in 40 years.
I don't know man, I just don't think kids will have the same nostalgia for bikes like we do. Bikes were all we had as kids...now they have everything. They'll likely be looking for Xbox ones and Gamecubes....Ipods. Hell, I dunno

IDK we are creatures of habit.
There is a reason that E.T. sparks interest, it made you feel a certain way watching it. Kids now who watch Stranger Things and then Pick up the bike may feel that way later as well.
However with so many collectors now a days I feel like you are going to have to hold onto it for 40 years and then find that needle in a hay stack, a grown up that wants to relive his youth.
You are better off taking your $210 and investing it for 30 years, at which time it will be about $800. Just saying...
.

Yeah I know nothing about the show. If I was big fan of the show this would be a cool piece to have, but that's about it.

For sure if I was walking around Target looking for whatever and saw one of these sitting there for $200, I would definitely be stopped in my tracks....

just look what grown ass men spend on Star wars or Dukes of Hazzard trinkets. why would this be any different. plus you got all the dads that love and grew up with Mongoose BMX and now have a shot at a affordable version of what they had as a kid. for their kid. it should sell very well.
