Re: ok lets have a vote

It's ok for you to be wrong. I don't mind wink

I ALWAYS ran front brakes and I've never owned a freestyle bike. BITD a couple of the fastest guys at the track week in and week out ran front brakes all the time. My Pro Am has front brakes and I love it!!

Re: ok lets have a vote

One of the beautiful things about BMX bikes is the simplicity.  Rear brake only is part of that simplicity.  Back in the 80s I had a Hutch Pro Racer that started as a beautiful, simple race bike and then I franked it all up with locking brakes front & rear, pegs, top tube stand, Potts mod stem, etc.  I also build mountain bikes and they get too complicated with suspension geometry, hydraulic disc brakes, rear derailleur, rear cogs, all that crap.  After building up my son's Mini Mach One over the past few months I've come to enjoy the serenity of simplicity again.  Took me about 35 years to come full circle.

Re: ok lets have a vote

It's OK as long as you have to drill your own holes. But then it becomes a freestyle bike.

Re: ok lets have a vote

of course you can find pictures of race bikes with front brakes. freestyle had to start somewhere. when bmx started it was about racing NOT freestyle lollol

if you are in a half pipe, yeah maybe you would need front brakes. but I would have to say 95% of pure racers back 1980-84 did NOT have front brakes.

imo anything after 84 sucks lollollollollol

and again just my opinion,  front brakes make the bike look like clutter.

just like a race bike without pads looks , naked.  and a freestyle bike with pads looks dumb lollol
