2000 Powerlite Coqpit P-61

AGENT ORANGE RACE MENACE

Ever since a 2000 Powerlite catalog fell in my hands a while back, I became interested in the P-61. I am a flatlander but as most riders back in 1984, started out on the track, and never fell out of love with racing bikes and the sport altogether, and admired billy griggs, Mike King, Ronnie Anderson and Pistol Pete as much as Eddie Fiola, Martin Aparijo, Josh White, etc, you get the idea. Last year Pedro Medina, an old friend in Puerto Rico sent me a few pics of this survivor Powerlite frameset (original decals and paint on the frame, refinished black fork and stem), and I could'nt say no. He had the frameset, stem, sprocket and seat, and the auburn bars, I had the wheels (sun rims with gt sealed bearing low flange hubs) off of a 92 pro series, the seatpost (off a gt show), and the overdrive cranks( gt labelled) but same as powerlites, an even an avid lever as the stock bike. Love the hex shaped stem, headtube and fork as well! Rounded it out with my fave shimano xt v-brake, coupled that with the silver dx's, and capped it out with primo dirt monster tires. Had to take it to a small local track nearby and at least get the feel back. I am about to part with my collection, but this one ends it with a bang! Other parts include a kmc cool chain, shimano freewheel, dyno grips, and FSA pig headset.
