Thanks!! You may not find your actual bike but there are some black 87 performers out there to be had.

How does a Magician EX compare to this? I passed on one yesterday because of all the cheap parts and steel wheels. Is it worth a second look?

Thanks. If I found it at a garage sale for $35 I'd say it was cheap. I paid a CL price and can't complain.

I think the rules are that we are not supposed to discuss opinions on values/worth. Best advice is go through the sold listings here on the museum and then compare prices to other sales whether through eBay, CL, or FB and then determine what you think is reasonable.

It's one of those situations whre he thinks because it's a Kuwahara that it's worth a pile of money, but wouldn't give me a price. I didn't see a single part I'd ever personally use, it was just that it's all there and not too bad of shape for an '87 bike.

Same as this.

Thanks! Put in a little more work and got the stem and the cheese grater I had cleaned up. Still debating which chainwheel I'll go with.

Re: 87 GT Performer

Looking good

My vote...the tioga chainwheel.wink
It looks cool and is just enough to make the bike look a lil bit different vs catalog correct.

Re: 87 GT Performer

Thanks everyone for the encouraging comments. I know this is just a base model GT but I agree with Poe.. something special about these 87 performers.

Hopefully some more progress this week.. I'll  post up some pics as I go.

Re: 87 GT Performer

i rode street on one of these frames (also in white) in the early 90s, would often go back to it when i broke or bent frames. it was a great frame, just felt really comfortable for all around riding
